I have always wanted a 928 since the movie risky business came out in the early 80's and I found one for sale and am thinking about buying it BUT it does need work. The seller is firm on 2,000 cash its a 1980 928, silver with maroon color leather interior, it has some sort of fuel problem that he thinks is the fuel pump, I guess it dies sometimes while driving but it fires right up, it is an automatic transmission and that is what I want.
The car looks very clean from the outside, interior is cracked in a few spots. I think I might buy it and keep my 944 too. _________________ 2000 Cavalier Z24 imposter

There is no better deal than a $2000 928. It will give you years of reliable driving with little to no maintenance required. The 928 was a flagship car when it was in the Porsche lineup, so I wouldn't expect any deferred maintenance on the one you plan on buying. I say grab it quick and start enjoying it before someone else does. _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

That is great advice. I understand there is a pretty good 928 board out there, too, in the unlikely event you need help with anything. _________________ Toofah King Bad

Been looking to buy one here but they are so expensive.
I suppose everyone wants one cos they are so reliable and cheap to run/maintain even with a V8.
$2000! a bargain. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

THIS POST HAS BEEN EDITED FOR CONTENT.
$2K for a 928 is a steal. Go for it, no question. I own one and paid a bunch more than that for it. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made

This guy has been quite rude to the members here so we aren't giving him any help, in fact from the posts so far I think we want him to buy the problem car, sink a few grand into it and sell it as a loss. |

Yeah, he's a dink.
I like helping people, doing favors for nothing and generally speading good cheer but with this guy, I would only take him to a doctor to see what's wrong with his brain. A little mental illness can go a long way! |

You must live in Redding. I see Porsches all the time there on craigslist. Each week they go down in price until the owner damn near gives them away. Must still be the gold rush up there.
I too wanted a 928 after seeing Risky Buisness. I could not afford one at the time so I got a 924. Chicks still dig it. I cant get chicks like Rebecca De Mornay in it but I do get some that look okay ( if its real dark ).
Go for it, you will love your 928.

You mock us for owning 924s - but when the 928 breaks you'll be back here in your diapers "Please help me get my car to pass the smog test"
If you just mocked us you'd be only irritating. Coming back afterwards makes you a dink. I can't wait until the pleas for help and guidance begin again. _________________ 1980 924 turbo, MSD, Meth. Inj, otherwise stock. |

I still want to know what happened to the 968 that you claim that you bought, and why you are talking about putting a clutch in your 944, after you claim that you bought a 944 with an auto tranny.
And why are you begging for someone to buy your parts when you claim you need money, yet here you are saying that you are seriously thinking about buying a 928. |
