hello I just recently sold my 924 and bought a 944 instead and I have a few questions about it. how often do you have to change the timing belt on it? and how much does it cost to put a racing clutch in it? also mine has an oil leak and I can't tell where it is coming from, kinda towards the front of the engine, does anyone know how much it would cost to get fixed, it leaks about a half quart of oil every week or two and I drive it daily.

Oil leak is probably from the timing area. Either the crank seal, cam seal, balance shaft seals or o rings. Pull off the timing cover and check for oil on the belt.

You should replace the timing belt immediately if there is any question as to its condition.

Unless your 944 has some significant modifications to the engine a racing clutch is just a waste of money. The standard clutch is expensive enough as it is, and certainly strong enough for your engine.

So what happened to the 968 you were bragging that you bought?

And, as it turns out the "nice" 944 you were trying to dump on some unsuspecting member is a POS, just as another member wrote in you 944 For Sale Ad.

Figure $1500-$2500 to have the front of engine service performed (with parts) depending on where you have it done and where you buy the parts. And, another $1200-$2000 to get the clutch replaced with all the parts that are necessary (again, depending on where you buy the parts, and where you get the car repaired).

Money should be no problem for you, since you claim you bought and can afford to keep a 968.

If you're worried about the cost to repair an oil leak, then why would you spend cash on a racing clutch? Do you like exploding engines?
