I've just bought a tasty *new* turbo manifold for my 1980 turbo and I think I'm going to jet-hot coat it before I put it in. However, to pick the right coating to apply, I need to get a handle on the exhaust gas temps. The coatings are temperature dependent.

Anyone out there running an EGT guage? What does it peak at when you're running hard??

I would think that too, but I kinda need someone who actually has measured EGT.

The Jet-hot products cover temperatures up to 1300, 1700 or 2400 degrees F. The 1300 is probably too cool. I'm leaning to the 1700 ("Extreme Sterling"), but I need to know if mid-boost applications, say 14-18 lbs or so, run hotter than that at the manifold. According to Jet-hot, the boost levels I'm running are near the edge of the 1700, so I was looking for a few more data points before I settled on a product.

according to my turbo rebuild guy, if your egt goes above 1300 for very long, your going to be encountering melted things that you don't want to pay for. Considering the melting point of aluminum is 1220.666 °F ..... kinda makes sense.
