You must want to drag race the car or more likely want to do drifting. I doubt you will be competitive in either of these events in a 924. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

well actually, here is one sentence I found:
Mark Donohue was famous for wanting a completely locked diff in every car he raced from Lolas to Ferraris to Porches etc etc. He found a locked diff to be more efficient at getting large amounts of power down in lower gears.
But as Paul said, I'm going to make a drift car from my 924
I tried to drift in Latvia with "open diff", was pretty good. I like it because of suspension and engine my 924 is almost a standart 924 (engine) suspension from 944, all disc brakes, koni rear shocks, a little bit lighter that other 924, because there is no saloon

I know this car, it's former owner is Joona Saluveer. Did you buy it from him? He is Estonian but lives in Lithuania. _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

I have 2 cars, both RWD. another is sierra, usually drifting with that->
but at that moment sierra had a broken starter, another reason is that I bought this 924 for sport and wanted to try it, how it goes. of course 924 has better suspension, sport seats, a little bit more powerful engine (118 vs 125).
but there still some things to do, first is the starter, it's dead, and it is quite difficult to find rims for porsche (5x130 and 72,5) as you understand, you need more than 4 wheels (on a car) if you wanna drift
and need to change steering wheel, because this momo actually bad for drifting

google allmighty helped me
found this ->
and as there was written, it is very easy to remove and install differential.
10 Differential - removal and installation
1 Remove the gearbox (Section 2).
2 Remove the bolts from the differential cover and remove the cover (photo).
3 Remove the O-ring from the differential cover and dispose of it (photo).
4 The entire differential assembly may be lifted straight out of the transmission housing (photo).
5 Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
6 Set the differential unit into the transmission housing so that the tapered roller bearing, seats on its outer race.
7 Install a new sealing O-ring on the differential cover.
8 Position the cover so that the magnet in the cover is located at the bottom of the cover when the transmission is installed.
9 Install the differential cover bolts and torque them in a cross pattern to 20 ft-lb (2.7 m-kg). |

I'm picking up a gearbox tomorrow afternoon, depending on its condition I'll probably strip it down. If I strip it I'll try and remember to take piccies. Can't see it being too difficult. _________________ 1994 Lotus Esprit S4 - Work in progress...
