Stared at my right side mount today. It doesn't look replaceable with the engine in the car (no access to upper allen bolt). Can anyone confirm this?

TIA

I found that on my 77, the PO changed the mount but evidently couldn't put the top bolt back in. I found that it was much easier to unbolt the exhaust manifold and pull it back a few inches. I then installed a hex head bolt.

I replaced the passenger side mount with the engine in the car. My old mount had a catastrophic failure at speed and the engine fell on the cross member. Luckily no damage was done. As for the mount, I was able to remove it and install a new one, then jack the engine up in order to install the upper mount bolts.

931 is Porsche numbering for a 924 TURBO.

A NA is not that difficult to change but am sure that it is considerably more difficult with a turbo and wastegate etc in the way.

Good luck Rasta. Let us know how it goes.

What makes you think yours needs to be replaced?

The car has a bit of drivetrain lash, and when I push on the side of the valve cover, the motor "sproings" back and forth in the engine compartment. It seems like the spring is intact but the rubber is kaput.

Plus, I bought one of those cool mounts last year!

What do you think, Paul, can I get it out?

Does your car still have the motor mount shock absorber in place?

I suggest you wait until you need to pull the head.

I don't recall ever replacing a 924 or 931 RHS motor mount while the fully assembled motor was installed. I always check them while the motor or head is out.
