Your car is sitting on blocks under a tarp because your $17 fuel pump relay has gone out. So the wife gets you a $125 car cover.

You haven't driven your car for 2 months because of a cold start problem that is easily diagnosed with a $70 CIS tester. So your G/F gets you a $125 car cover.

Your battery keeps dying because of an electrical problem that could be fixed with the help of a $25 digital multimeter. So your parents get you a $125 car cover.

While you open that car cover and are thankful for the thoughtfulness and generosity the gift giver has shown, maybe it would help if you nudged them in the right direction when it comes to gift giving. You know, the way our wives/SO always seem to steer us towards the Borsheim store in the mall, even though it's opposite of where we parked the car. Or how THEY suggest we stop in at Victoria's Secret while we're there, when usually they're covering your eyes when you walk by their billboards. Or the catalog left conspicuously open on the kitchen counter to the coat section with big red circles drawn around a couple of them and they innocently tell you they were just shopping for your sister for Christmas. Yeah, yeah, happens all the time.

Well, maybe it's time to start leaving the Performance Products catalog laying around guys.

Start by posting here the tools you use most and would most like to have in your arsenal. Dream big! Air compressors, pnuematic tools, socket sets, CIS testers, etc. Heck, how 'bout a garage lift? You never know what Santa can shove down that chimney ya' know, as long as there's freight trucks to back him up.

And parts, too. A back up fuel pump relay, temp switch for the radiator, spark plug wires, Warm Up Regulator....these are all things that are handy for trouble shooting. New brake pads aren't sexy and aren't romantic but being able to stop is kinda' cool.

If you can post price, source and/or website, that would be ideal. Some are pretty easy to find like a good digital meter but others are a bit tougher. But this is the time to ask...er....promt people who find you a "hard to shop for" type of person. And face it, most of us men are hard to shop for. Once you get outside the basics; food and.....more food, we get complicated. More so than most women would EVER admit.....we have 'em stumped most of the time.

I thought the $59 was still cheaper than what you guys are paying across the pond. IIRC, the going price over there was over $400, no? Maybe my conversion calcutator was misquoted.

Either way, it's a valuable diagnostic tool for the CIS. And it's one less Porsche polo shirt to launder!

i wish for more time to drive the 924...i wish for many long journeys to be able to enjoy the 924 on nice roads...and i wish the roads get finished in my city until spring so i can drive the 924 in the city too...they are rebuilding the whole city.

Merry X-mas me, you'll get that this year... that is absolutely the last thing that I need in order to be able to wrap up the front end...

please send the board of directors of the company i work for to a time management / productivity workshop so theyll understand we can get more done, in less time if they just treat us a little better. longer hours do not mean better results, its difficult to be productive when your exhausted all the time, and happy workers are always more productive. and while your at it, a realistic cost of living increase would be really nice as well. so a bit more money and a few less hours a week would be great if you can swing it. Im not greedy or complaining, but things could be so much better for everyone with just a little intervention.

now that i might have a bit more time, maybe i could actually work on my Porsche and get it back on the road again, but i could use a few things to do it right:

id love to have a dual stage electronic boost controller, complete with variable boost maps, and a built in turbo timer.

a set of new slotted rotors all around would be awesome. as well as a new set of wheel bearings to put in while im in there.

a nice assortment of auto grade wire small to medium gauge 50 foot rolls would be really handy.

i could really use a 5+ hp air compressor with at least a 30 gallon tank, and an assortment of air tools and hoses.

how about a set of leather sport seat covers, so i can recover my seats?

a new roof for my house.

I really only need the first item on the list though, i know its a hard order, but with that i can take care of the rest over time . thanks, and i hope global warming hasnt destroyed your place up at the north pole.. weve been trying to reduce our "carbon footprint" for the last several years in my home..every little bit helps i think..

Couple other items that should be in your tool box:

A good timing light.
A set of metric allen (hex key) wrenches or sockets.
A 12 point hex key (IIRC) for tightening up CVC joint bolts.
A magnetic grabber of some sort.
Spare water pump. (Available at O'Reilleys for about $40 w/life time warranty.)
Set of metric nut drivers. (No, not your GF or wife.)

Some are great stocking stuffer kind of.....stuff.
