Well, the conversion is not done, but it is much closer. I have to make the "bucket" to surround the light, but they fit and they are in - the nose is trimmed to fit and the edges are rolled. Still lots of fine tuning but I figure you guys might want to see a few pics.

(Light in this pic is flash reflection, they are not on)
Here - they are on... early picture though, the panel is not trimmed properly yet
Enjoy. _________________ Bruce

pics are a little dark. are the lights covered with galss like the GTS or are they wide open? I personaly like the orgional pop up lights. The open GTS lights remind me of an 80's camero. Still cool but not my first choice.
I ran into a guy with a 914/916 body kit. He had a cool idea of mounting a thin LED light and riging them to only open like they are squinting.
Most people here probly find what you have done interesting but they wouldn't want to do it them selves. The importaint thing is do you like them and what do your friends think. _________________ Red 1987 924S with plans for D Productions Kit

I really like the look, what headlights did you use? and is that a 951 front bumper/fascia? looks good but i've never seen them for less than $2 arms and 1 leg! _________________ 1981 931 For Sale... Sad to see her go. |

The lights are BMW lights, and that is a 924GT front bumper - from GT racing (I wouldn't reccomend GT racing though fitment SUCKS that bumper - and all the other GT parts on my car were a PAIN to get to fit properly. Actually none of them fit properly - it was a pain to get them to fit acceptably. )
I did modify the front panel for the lights to fit. I'll post more pics shortly when I get the lenses done - I have broken 2 so far trying to get them "just right"! _________________ Bruce

I don't like the stock pop up lights, and would like to go with fixed lights. Other than watching them go up and down, I think the pop ups look goofy.
Overall I like your concept, my only thought would have been to keep the dimensions within the confines of the stock units and not to cut into the header panel. I think a cover out of acrylic or lexan is in order too.

If I could have found this style of light that fit without cutting the panel, I would have... however, that pretty much limits you to a very small light, or making it open/close. If you look closely you will notice that not only did I have to make the opening wider, I also had to trim it right down tight to the bumper cover.
I am in the process of making the acrylic lenses, I have one bent up and just about fitted, but the weather has turned cold here and it's not so fun working in the garage at near 0°C!! _________________ Bruce
