Pluged cat converter or running VERY lean. Just a quick guess, what does the exhaust sound like at the outlet (if it sounds like whooshing air the converter is pluged) _________________ Rick

Thats the rub, you will need to figure out why its lean (if that is the problem) Vacume leaks and low fuel pressure can cause lean running, there is an adjuster between rubber intake boot and the fuel dist (small hole, should have a plug in it), you will need a small (but long) allen wrench (cant remember the size) to adjust this and make sure to remember where it was to start with so you can put it back if this is not helping (also; adjusting this WILL affect your emissions).
I'm sure someone else will have other ideas so wait until they speak up before adjusting the fuel mix, but start by looking for vac leaks. _________________ Rick

Check your timing. Retarded spark timing can cause the manifold to glow. Good luck!

It's a 3 millimeter allen wrench, that's the trade secret. Clockwise = rich, counterclockwise = lean, but do check the condition of the plugs and the vacuum system first, it might not be a simple mixture setting that's causing the problem. _________________ 1977.5 924 "Martini" head / New Old Stock rebuild
