I installed an oil cooler with remote filter mount on my NA some time ago. I have since removed it because the lines that came with it weren't steel braided, and one of them managed to get punctured somehow. I've been busy with other priorities on other cars, so buying $200 of line and fittings to plumb it in correctly on the NA just isn't that high on the list right now. In any event, I did NOT see any drop in oil pressure after installation. But I did notice about a 20-30C degree drop in the oil temp (I also installed an oil temp sender and gauge at about the same time).

No, there's no reason adding a cooler should reduce in a loss of oil pressure - sounds like somebody F'd up the plumbing. I'm running -10 hose for my cooler, works fine. Go big or go home; I run an 8x11.5" cooler, and need it. Street cars might be OK with smaller, sure.

I do run an oil t-stat, though I'm pretty sure it's not necessary in my case.

Sounds like a lot of confusion there about plumbing; do any questions remain?
