For some reason, to me, Classic Rock seems to go with wrenching...
I don't know if it's because that's what was always on the radio at the service station where I worked my way thru college (back in the mid-eighties) or what. I have pretty eclectic musical tastes (pretty much anything goes except for Country and Rap ... umm, CRAP if you put 'em together ) but whenever I'm in the garage, it's always Classic Rock.

I tend to leave the same cassette in the car stereo for a long time. Drove my brother kooky in the 80's playing the Beach Boys "Little Old Lady from Pasadena" and everything else on that album over and over and over and...
Last year while doing my bodywork and paint prep I had Eric and the Dynamos (actually "Derek and the Dominos" thanks to some likely pissed announcer at a theatre in London a long time ago) "Layla" album on repeat for weeks on end. This time may have drove the soul-jazz fan next-door neighbor kooky..
Currently, I have some selections by an artist with the initials "DB" and one by an "Emily" on cassette and in the car stereo - for a calming effect, not so much for when the road ahead is open, but more for when stopping and moving slowly are required.

I don't recall details - I think I found them on some website that I stumbled upon one day a year or two ago. Do you happen to know of this music and these artists? -And if so, would you also know if they're available and how one might aquire a what the kids nowadays call "CD"? -by one or both of these fine talented musicians?..

-But yes, when I think of it, it'll normally be classic rock that I put on for wrenching, but I'm too much of an optimist (aka- "bad planner") and think that whatever I'm about to do will be done in no time, so I don't put anything on and end up working for a very long time with no music.
Then when I work on a vehicle with my older brother there's no need for music as he provides all the entertainment needed by cursing at himself.

I too am in the catagory of classic rock but my tastes in music are very eclectic. My CD collection includes all the above choices except Rap (unless Kid Rock counts as Rap). Lately I have been jonesing on a new radio station here that plays ALL the old stuff from Prince to BTO to Springsteen to The Beastie Boys. Good Stuff.

For those of you from the Boston area, its always WBCN for me while i'm working. Or if i pick a time where the radio isn't playing music i'll throw in one of my hundreds of CDs, usually Rock or alternative.

Honestly, it really depends on how pissed off I am at the time... Sometimes classic rock, rock, and if a bolt is really stuck, heavy metal.

While wrenching my 931 there is only one song option - of course.

Judas Priest, Turbo Lover

Err... - you realise, of course, that all JP songs are about gay sex, don't you, Mikko!

Ok, that explains some of the abstract lyrics they have.

Gay or not - JP is a great band!
