| 1988 924S: On the rear of the cyl. head attatched to the steel-plate "eye" used to lift the engine out of the car (I presume) is a black rubber electrical test jack. When I pop the top off of this part there are three male pins/prongs; the wires from this thing disappear into a thick bundle so I can't follow them visually. The pop off cover is marked "SME 00.19.15". Question: What is this test port for and how can I use it? Can one use a simply volt-ohm meter to check "whatever" this thing tests or must one have a special meter? |

I knew it at one point...
Hmm....
I think it may be a TDC sensor, but don't hold me to that.
And yeah, that eye is listed as an engine lifting bracket but... Well maybe it's just because I've never lifted an engine, but that thing is not what I'd call the sturdiest part of the engine--it's held in place by three small bolts with light torque. Damn, now I'm curious to see how the engine is lifted. _________________ 1987 924S: Very much in love with it, even if it's all finnicky |

Yes, that loop thing is for the engine. Just pulled mine last night. While i admit they look flimsy they worked just fine.
As for the port, i was wondering the same thing. mine's an 87 _________________ 1987 Porsche 924s (summer project)

think its to do with base idle setting to isolate the stepper motor when making adjustments. _________________ 1980 924 turbo blue/silver
