I have an 924 NA wich I am racing with (low budget).
I want to add an oil cooler.
Two questions.
- I read on the forum an adaptor plate of an 924 turbo won't fit. Is this correct ?
- Of what other car can I use a sandwich plate ? I don't want to use the VW ones with water cooling. _________________ 937 trackday car

Correct, the 924 Turbo adapter plate will put your oil filter where your starter already is! The 931 put the starter on the other side of the flywheel at the bottom, same location as the 944. Which is better anyway, they last longer due to less heat. Took me a while before I got a starter that could handle the heat on the racecar.
If you use a sandwich plate adapter, you will end up having to use a shorter than stock oil filter; clearance to the exhaust may get even worse with a header.
I recommend using a remote filter mount and adapter; makes oil changes easier too! Check out my homepage for pics, under the Construction tab. Parts were generic racing bits, only the actual hoses with reusable ends were the expensive bit. I got everything from Racer Parts Wholesale; search on my posts, I'm pretty sure I posted links and details (part #'s) previously. You can probably find a local seller over there with similar parts, once you know the thread needed.
ALSO - get a LARGE oil cooler. Mine's 8x11". The bigger the better, pretty much; keeping the oil temps down is central to making these engines last a long time. _________________ Vaughan Scott
