Please share with us Keaton. What have you got in mind?
WTF would anyone want one, unless they are trying to supercharge their lawnmower or whatever.
Or is it just needed to pass rego there?

Yea, but they hardly improve performance.
So theyre a legal requirement i presume?
Are they required in Canada?
Just curious thats all.

they arent required on the west coast, at least not that I know of, infact you can remove the cats and most testing stations dont even look for them. _________________ 3 928s, |

Thanks Lizard.
They`re not fitted on ROW cars in Oz and I thought they were only needed in California.
You may be able to help me with my knock sensor thread as I just learnt some VWs and 928s use a donut (my term) type.
Where do they mount on the V8?
Is there 1 or 2?
Are you running it with your MS?
Appreciate any help.

sorry to hijack your thread Keaton,
the 928 (87+) uses the same knock sensor as VW Golf that has the digifant fuel injection.
it is a bosch 3 wire knock sensor, on the Golf it is bolted right to the side of the engine block. on the 928 there are 2 that are mounted in the bottom of the V on the top of the block, the 87+ 928s were the only 928s which have the knock sensors, they have a cam sensor as well, and using the knock sensors with conjuction of the cam sensor the brain knows exactly what cyl is detonating and retard the ign on only that cyl to keep the most power out of the engine.
I do not have a knock sensor installed in my 928 with MS at this time, I will be installing one with the engine I am rebuilding as it will have boost and be alot more prone to detonation, however I will also have an EGT sensor as well, (which later 928 had as well). _________________ 3 928s, |

I think it is a standard Nippondenso pump. Or some such thing. I do know they are not Porsche only parts and should not be hard to find in the junkyard. Brackets and pully will be a different matter though. _________________ The Porsche is now my son's, my car is cooler, slower but cooler. |
