|
|
I feel
totally disheartened.
On my fourth rebuild now and it keeps leaking from the same corner....and i can see why.
I didn't realise it was fairly soft metal....but
The first time I took it apart I used a hammer to shock it apart....and now I can see that where I hit it, the metal has deformed so that now the edge of one of the flat faces which mates to the other (steel gasket between) is no longer flat.
And I have tightened it beyond belief....used grease....but as the metal is deformed, it will not seal.
plus a couple of times fuel has also leaked from the top end of one of the star bolts.... the same corner where the leak from the mating edge is.
I have to source another fuel distributor now, and I am quite angry with myself!
Can anyone help me?
Tiny
ps. i know...i know....i should have left it well alone.....and now im stuck... _________________ *****1981 - 924 - Auto - London, UK****** |

Gasket Sealent? obviously something fuel proof.
I haven't dismantled mine, so am not 100% about the part you mean.
I did see a metering head for a Mk2 Golf on ebay the other day looked like it would fit. £5 !! |

Actually mate you can have my old one. sorry was being realy slow and forgot about it.
The only problem with it is the mixture adjustment screw. But if you swap the metering arm from yours in it should be okay. |

Yep came off my own 924. The mixture adjustment screw wasn't connected to the metering arm, and just fell out
I put it back together but think I cross threaded the adjustment screw.
If you check the Haynes, theres a rebuild procedure which shows how to remove the metering arm.
I managed to get another so just swapped it out. |

Its with the Royal mail now Tiny.
They only service to get it there before saturday was a special delivery so should be with you before 1pm tomorrow.
Unfortunately it was £20. Way more than I expected so I'll offer to go halves with you.
Scott. |

YES! thanks mate. you saved the day.
i dunno if you've read my misfiring thread in the main forum, but i am in the process of eliminating all causes. a clogged fuel dist. was one of them.
i will update the thread tomoz.
oh one thing. i get paid on friday 25th may, so would it be ok if i mailed the £20 postal order then?
Just wanted to be honest...things are pretty tight for me right now, but hey.. if you need it ASAP then just let me know and i will do it tomorrow without fail. no problems. it would just help me out this week thats all.
thanks very much mate
