Hey guys, tis I once again. So a few weeks ago when I was having starter problems, I tried to check my ignition and therefore I had to take off my steering wheel, and all of the levers on the collum. Well I put everything back together and my blinkers nolonger shut themselves off. I think I understand how it is "suppose" to work, because I can see the little piece on the steering wheel that is "suppose" to reset the blinkers, but for some reason it doesn't appear to be going in far enough to do so, and it looks like there is a little bit of a gap between the steering wheel and the components on the collum (I don't think it's suppose to be there) so does anyone have any ideas on how to make this thing work?

I've had my steering wheel off numerous times. V limited headroom under there! Always been a slight gap between the wheel and the switch gear to allow the horn contact mechanism to work. Plenty of room for the plastic wedge to fit in the gap in the indicator switch though
Is it an original steering wheel or an aftermarket one? The shut off "switcher" on the wheel has to line up correctly - had that one a few times! _________________ 1983 924 NA

It's origional, I think we may be talking about a different gap though. correct me if I'm wrong, but are you talking about a gap on the steering wheel itself, or behind the steering wheel? Because I know there should be one for the horn, but I'm not sure about the one between the back of the wheel and the switch mechanism.
Thank you for your reply.

Not quite sure what gap you mean. I'm talking about a 2-3 mm gap between the switches and the back of the wheel/steering wheel hub itself itself. Do you have a photo of the gap you mean? _________________ 1983 924 NA

Ok, I think we're on the same track, my fault I must have misunderstood you, but I still can't figure out why that dang blinker won't shut off, I've had that wheel off a few times before, and never had any problem with the blinkers then, I wonder what has changed.

If you reinstalled the wheel upsidedown (easy to do with a 4 poster) the wheel has to turn a long way before the tab resets the blinkers. May want to check the orientation.

Might try pulling it off again and, if i'm remembering right, there's a little wire piece that gets triggered by that plastic tab on the wheel. Maybe make sure that's still properly in place and didn't get bumped around with the wheel off?
It's an easy thing to check, so might as well. _________________ 1978 924

I finally got it! I dunno what went wrong but for some reason the little white tab thingy that the wheel trips and resets the blinker was not springing back into place, therefore the trip on the wheel could not reach it to reset it. Eureka! I dunno how I fixed it though, it just kinda started working after I messed with it a bit. Thanks for all your help guys.
