Yes. It would be costly to redesign the whole front end (headlight system, 944 oil filter location, radiators would need severe redesign etc) to accomodate turbo. The few feet of tubes cost less than that.

On 937 GTR (not on the usual GT) it made sense because of the better cooling and the fact that this car was designed for LeMans with it's long straights (Mulsanne, Hunaudiere) where instant spoolup was not the issue but every bit of longetivity was needed.

I used it on my wifes '83 NA (I'll post pics soon) but this is accountants way to do this, not an engineers way

Are you saying accountants at the Porsche factory designed the 951?

Wow, nice work on this OOTB! Actual schematics! I'm impressed, nice to see real effort and intelligence being put towards these cars. So much better than the ravings we used to get from some other members who would just steal pictures from the internet and watermark them with their company name. My only regret is that I don't have a 931. But, I'll watch from the sidelines.

Well, I am going to try it as my next project. . .turbo the crap out of an old NA (yes, I have a spare 931 head).

And OOTB, this isn't criticism of your setup, just discussion of alternatives. You have done a great job.
