Vital info: 1977 NA 4 speed Built Sep. '76

Today, I had to bring the Pcar home after it was down for the trans getting stuck in 2nd and having to drop, repair and re-install that. While I was under it I noticed a little fuel seeping from one of the two cylindrical assemblies plumbed in right after the fuel pump. I am assuming they are the pressure accumulators. Because of this, I used a car I had borrowed from a friend untill today and did not drive it... untill today. My commuter is out of the body shop and I had to get home.

I figured I could limp it home.

NOT!!!!

So now it is on the side of the road. It had gas dripping from all over the area around the accumulator in question. I was very lucky there was no fire. The accumulator is toast.

The question is: Can I remove the bad accumulator and the "T"'s then install straight brass connectors in the fuel line thus running it on just the single accumulator untill I can get it home?

I need an answer soon. (before the tow truck)

the fittings on there are a special thread, in order to bypass it you will have to cut the hoses and install a straight through which will allow you to run the car, but you will need to replace all that hose after that point.

but it would be a good idea to replace that hose anyways due to age.

Thanks Lizard, I think the PO did alot of cutting and changing to hoseclamps so that shouldn't be a big deal.

Once upon a time, one of the car mags did an article on just that -- European car I think in the late 90's had a 924 as a project car and they did a series of articles, one of which was converting from 2 20cc accumulators to 1 40cc accumulator or something like that. Also might be something in the FAQ's
