Today's logo looks exactly like my old 79. Anyone know if it is in this area? Better yet, anyone know of a silver '79 around Portland with refinished 8-spoke wheels and pristine interior?
TIA

Bah, no front plate, that answers my first question. Still curious about whatever became of my old car, though. . . _________________ Toofah King Bad

Lots of people run with no front plate, feeling the look is worth the occasional ticket (myself NOT included). _________________ 78 924 NA

$54.33 for no front license plate...
I have one on now, but thats only because the bolts to get the bracket off were stripped/rusty. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

The one nice thing about Georgia: No front license plates required. _________________ 1987 924S: Very much in love with it, even if it's all finnicky |

Possibly one of the not nice things about Georgia...the occasional encounter with a rhino-sized wild hog?

Yeah the front plate issue bothers some people to excess. In the mid '80's I worked with a girl who was somewhat obsessed with it and talked about moving to Pennsylvania just so she wouldn't have a front plate ruining the look of her 924 copy (a Mazda RX-7). Her dream next car at the time was the Porsche 944. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

YES. YES THAT WOULD BE BAD.
Holy moly.
The license plate issue really doesn't bug me though, just a preference thing. With some cars though, it's a big deal, because where on the 924 a front plate doesn't look too bad, a front plate can be ruinous to the front fascia.
Ever see an RX-8 with a front plate? Looks like it has buck teeth. _________________ 1987 924S: Very much in love with it, even if it's all finnicky |

I've only put $1,000 into this one when I got it 3 years ago - she runs beautifully. Other than a few cosmetic things (interior) to touch up, I've only got the Bilsteins and new tires planned for it this spring.
Can't wait to get it on the road again - the weekly drives around the neighborhood (dry conditions only - no salt, etc) to keep her fresh throughout the winter are a little boring.
