Welcome to The 'Board!
You're in the wrong forum. You probably should post this in the General Discussions forum.
But as a starter, you can find some basic information here <click> in the 924 FAQ (Technical) section.

A 924 probably shouldn't be considered an investment. But if you mean "Is it worth the price?" well, that depends on many things, a couple being:
Do you mean US$2800? Or Lebanese Pounds?
Do you have pictures you could show us or a detailed description of the condition?
There is a lot of information about these cars on this 'board. You can try searching <click here for instructions>
There's millions of specific things to be aware of but it'd be impossible to list them all in one post. Try reading the FAQ linked above and post some pictures if at all possible.
Good luck! |

Again, what the car is worth depends on many, many things.
Condition is all-important. A complete service history would be highly prized but it's unlikely to exist. Originality is also generally favoured but is less important to some people than others.
You mention the car is a '77 model. That is the oldest of the 924's (technically, I think there were some '76's but I've never seen one). That would make the car 30 years old. Assuming the car has been running all its life (far from a certainty), at that age it's very likely the car has done hundreds of thousands of miles.
If the car is running and is used regularly, it's a good sign. After 30 years, if she's still kicking, it's likely the car has been reasonably well maintained during its life. Of course, it can also mean that there is some major maintenance coming due (up to and including an complete rebuild of some or all of the major mechanicals, say, the engine, clutch, gearbox, brakes, suspension, etc...).
Whether this is the case or not, you'll have to determine for yourself. If you're not experienced with checking for mechanical problems on a vehicle and if you're not experienced with 924's, it's recommended that you get a pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic (preferably a Porsche specialist). This could save the heart-ache of buying a good looking but mechanically unsound car and should also give you a list of bargaining points to haggle over with the seller.
Along with all the above, you really should check if it has had any crash repairs. Again, at 30 years old, it'd be a miracle if it hasn't been shunted at some stage in its life. As long as any damage was minor and/or the repairs are well done, it's not too much of a problem. But if the car has had some major previous damage repaired, that will obviously lower its value.
The picture doesn't reveal much. But it's very obvious that the car has a body kit fitted. It looks to be a 924 Carrera GT replica kit. That's not a bad thing, as long as you like it and the kit has been fitted well. It's also obvious that wheels are not original. Again, not a bad thing as long as you like them.
So is it worth US$2,800? Values are different all around the world. In the United States that car would most certainly not be worth US$2,800. Probably much less than half that, at best. But converted to Australian dollars (I'm an Aussie ), that's about AU$3,700. It might be worth that much in Australia, assuming it is in good condition. On the other hand, it'd probably only be worth a quarter of that price in the UK.
Do you see what I'm getting at? It's all but impossible to say whether it's worth US$2,800 in Lebanon. But if I had to guess, I'd say that's on the very high end of prices for what is basically an old and modified car.
Don't be mesmerized by the Porsche badge. Go into it with your eyes open.
By the way, is it an automatic or manual gearbox? And if it's a manual, does it have four or five gears? |

Looks like you could get two cars for the price of one! From the rear it's a 944!
As for if it's worth it. Imagine it's, say, a Golf GTi. You have those over there? If you pay $2800 for a GTi in the same condition etc, buy the 924. If not get the Golf and save yourself some money (and probably some problems, too). _________________ 1985 Porsche 924 'Lux', Kalahari Beige (my ex)

For me the price is ok if its running without any visible/audible problems and everything is working inside.(Gauges,heating,ect.)
But....what your pic shows. It looks like a early 924 modell (Visible, theres no cover over the filler cap,Chrome surounding windows ect)
So its build in1975 to 1979.
So,in no case you get something thats original in any means, if you like to keep it as an investment, it`s the wrong buy !

You'll have to become your own trustworthy Porsche professional - with the help of folks like those on this board. After a year fixing and driving it you could probably go and work in a shop that fixes 924s and show them a thing or two. $2800? If it's as Nobbi says it should be at that price. For some perspective, we bought my wife's 77.5 924 auto for $600CDN. So far we've put about $1000 into it and it's been happy and dependable.
