I'm still donig what I can when I can get to my car. Not often enough though
It'll now turn and fire (used intake cleaner) but it's not starting. I took a look at my relays, and I saw (the lack of) light!
Water damage
Puled the fuel pump relay and opened it up. Board was burned. I found 433-906-059-M5252 at Pelican parts and I've an order in. Yay.... So long as the pumps are good, I'll be on the road!

The question I have...
Seems the PO pulled the Headlight flasher and low beam relay, and the "extra headlight relay".
I tried to get the Parts catalog from porsche, but I get just a blank screen.
my other project is a new computer as mine is dead and this one sucks
Pelican only lists part # 141-951-253-B-M5206 as "High Power Headlamp Relay". It's also listed as a "multi function" relay.
Will this work for my missing relays?

I know this post is long winded, but it's Friday and I don't get to work on the car this weekend. Just venting a bit. Should have the new relay by NEXT weekend!

HIgh beam/low beam relay 411 941 583B.
The other will do for the extra headlamp, rear window heating or electric fan.

Thanks Ozzie! I found the relay @ Pelican as a special order. @ $25.00 (us) still a better deal then the wiper relay!

Late US 924 models do not use a headlight relay. Instead, Porsche deleted the headlight relay, and stuck a shorting bar in the relay socket across the switched power connectors in the relay socket.

So, you don't need a headlight relay in your 82. Just make sure that the shorting bar is still in there.

just a thought here, as many are using upgraded h-4 headlights (not the sealed type) and even HID and such, if you have these upgrades, adding a head light relay because of the increased power requirements would be a good thing to do. the electrics in these cars arent designed for modern headlights, and the system can be easily over taxed (ie: melted) if you dont add a relay.

I don't know too much about HIDs, but H4s don't draw any more current than the sealed beams; they're just brighter.

HIDs should draw less current, because they're much more efficient...

that all depends on the rating of the h4's you put in. stick a set of 100/80 upgraded h-4 headlights in our cars with small gauge, original 20+ year old wiring and its rolling dice even with adding a relay. might be okay, might melt your light switch or worse, ... just keep wattage and resistance in mind, those are what'll get ya...
if you consider that most cars have had their radios upgraded by now, among other things, the electrics could easily already be beyond rated specs and most of us wouldnt even know. now add more "stuff" and you have the potential for some serious issues. some might think that just because its 12 volts itll work, and in many cases that is true. But its a good idea to consider amps and watts when installing accessories. think of your wiring as a water pipe or an air hose. they can only take so much pressure before they blow a hole in the side, electric current works in a similar manner, but with many more variables like resistance, wattage, and amperage, which can change values while supplying the voltage as well, depending upon load and temperature. it can get prettty complicated, but the bottom line is that before adding accessories, especially permantly installed ones, do a little research, use a voltmeter (or learn to use one) so you can do it safely and things will work the way you need them too..
