What do you guys think of shaving the handles off? I want to put in an alarm, with keyless entry. I thought I could go one step further and add the keyless door popper. keep the doors nice and smooth.
I'll be getting a paint job and doing some other body work so I could just add it to my list.
I'll at least add a remote hatch release so I can pop it from the glove box. I don't think I'll remove the hatch key.... How would I get in if the battery died?

Through the tail pipe.
Regarding your handles. If you shave them don't you think the sides would look too bare? Naturally you can do whatever you like. If you do I would two tone your car similar to Soyracer. He has a very nice two tone car that I would love to have. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"

I just checked Automotion and they sell the door handles for $184.95 and $194.95. -So won't the car be worth $379.90 less without handles? Remove the mirrors too and it'll be worth a negative amount, then if you sell it, you'll have to pay them.
Yeah getting in might be a problem without power. Better mount an extra steering wheel on the roof.
Sorry - no fans of shaving yet. Joe might help you out. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

LOL Wow.... Not looking to rice out my Porsche, but I am a bit of a fan of old school rodding. Keep the body fairly "stock" just add a few extras. I may have to get an extra door to see what it looks like before I commit to it.
I think I will be doing a 2-tone once I get it done... We'll see how it comes out.
I'm still gonna put a pop on the hatch.
Has anyone seen a 924/944 with shaved handles? _________________ 1982 924 ~pics coming.... soon |

| I've thought about shaving the handles, too, Since I'm doing all the bodywork anyway. I tried painting the handles in on a black 924, and it seems to look very good. |

Can you elaborate?
FWIW I've shaved the handles on my project car, along with the side markers, mirrors, and the fuel filler hole.
If you decide to do it, do it right, and fill in that big divot under the door handle too. If you leave that it's like leaving bodily fluids at the scene of a crime. |

LOL to go through all the trouble of shaving the handles and leaving the divot would be a crime! _________________ 1982 924 ~pics coming.... soon |

You laugh but it has been done...
No offense intended to the owner of this fine example. It just seems like a lot of work went in to shaving everything else, why not the divot? |

I have a friend who shaved his doorhandles. He had the keyless entry thing, and he didnt really like it. When you need to get into your car quickly its a pain, and he had some trouble with the button being pressed in his pocket, and the door would randomly pop open.

Great example Nemesis! Can't imagine what they were thinking.
As far as the door opening, I was thinking of adding poppers as well so it'll open more than just the inch or so from the mechanism being released. That should help with getting in when you're in a hurry. I'll be integrating it with the alarm and locking system, I don't see a problem with the door opening while it's locked.
Thanks for the input Ryan.
Does anyone have picks of it done right? Does Racer have shaved doors? _________________ 1982 924 ~pics coming.... soon |
