Hey I have a couple of questions to finish up my project and get it driving.
1) I have seen before but could not find it now, a picture of the back seat of a 924 that the seat was taken out and that had a window cut into the floorboard so that you can access to the top two transmission to torque tube bolts and the linkage in the back near the transmission. My question (s) is 1) how exactly do I take out the back seats to get to the floorboard in the back and 2) does anyone have a picture of the transmission window so I can see how much I need to cut out?
my second question is does anyone have a picture of the linkage over the transmisison so I can see exactly how its supposed to look, my linkage is really sloppy and I dont know exactly whats wrong with it, so I would like to compare it to a picture to get an idea.
thank you for the help. |

Yeah i did this job recently and it was not too bad.
I was able to remove the tranny without cutting up the floor board, just used a swivel socket and long extender to access the top left bolt, which is the one you will find is the hardest to get to.
when it came time to put her back in i tried to hack up the floor but the steel is pretty thick and requires more tools that i had access to like a pneumatic air saw/grinder. also, you really need to be concerned with the brake line that runs very close to the shift linkage mount on the tranny.
If you ask me it is not worth the time or effort to make the hole just be patient and be sure to have fun in the process.
If you really want to do it you would pull the rear seat up and locate the raised part of the channel that houses the linkage. it is part of the channel that runs perpendicular to the linkage. then you cut about an inch behind this panel or on the side closest to the rear of the car. make your cut wide enough so you can put your finger or a hanger in their and locate where you are with respect to the brake line and linkage. and just continue cutting until you are able to access the linkage.
also, I found it helpful to reverse the nut and bolt arrangment on the lower mounts of the tranny to torque tube. it seemed to be easier to thread the nut on the bolt.
cheers,
