My whole family has the passport detectors. Most of you probly have heard this, but they are only good if someone driving ahead of you gets radared. I was 'lucky' enough to be driving over the speed limit on a road with no one on it, and all of the sudden, a cop literally popped out of a bush and nailed me with a hand held unit, the radar detector wasnt much help. Turned out it was a big stake out, a seat-belt check there.
Anyone else noticed that sometimes a squad car will set the radar detecter off just a tiny bit? Sometimes I do detect maybe theyr wireless whatever on my radar before I see them.

ps- Yeah, insurance here in the states jumps up with just one ticket, especially for people around my age, 16-25. _________________ 1978 924 NA

Radar jammers are illegal up here and if they go to get your speed and the gun has an error and they cannot fix it they impound your car and search it for a jammer,
however Laser jammers are not illegal up here.
and the built in Passports arent bad, ESP the SRX with built in laser jammer,
that was one of my choices, but you cannot take it from car to car. _________________ 3 928s, |

| Yeah, they are illegal here also. But you can turn them off once you see the cop is behind you. |

I'll probably need a radar detector once I start driving again, cheaper than a ticket. I almost always drive over the speed limit and sometimes way over, so far I've been lucky and have never had a ticket (driving for 4 years). _________________ 78 924 sold.

I've read your threads over at Clark's Garage... I don't think you'll have to worry about speeding tickets for a while. _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

haha priceless Khal,
I had a chance to use it on the way back, and I have to admit this is an amazing unit, it gives WAY more warning than is needed.
and this I would have to say may give most people a false sence of security. but I am happy to say that the unit has already paid for itself on the trip from Stewart to Richmond _________________ 3 928s, |

Thanks for the Timstar link Khal, I'm just about to start reading it all! My guess is he is having all the same problems with his 944 that he had with his 924. _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

oh btw Chrenan, I talked with a fellow worker from alberta and he said he knows that they are legal over there, though you may want to confirm with the police force, and or with a lawyer. _________________ 3 928s, |

didn't know Khal goes to Clarks garage... I better watch out.
well I haven't had any major problems yet just had to wait forever for my parts to come in.
I just broke one water pump bolt and had to spend 2 days drilling it out and tapping in new threads.
other problem I pushing in a new oil seal using my fingers and I was worried that it didn't go in completely straight so I freaked out and pulled it out again and ordered a new one (going to use a socket to push it in this time). _________________ 78 924 sold.

Has anyone ever hardwired a radar detector into a 924? I have done it on a honda civic, but it is totally different.
Anyone have a picture of how they did it?

A little birdy told me about it. But no need to worry, I wish you luck. And thank you for the entertainment... _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

well the V1 comes with a little piece with velcro on the backside and wires so I plugged it into the cigarette lighter circuit and used the cord that came with it, looks alot better that using the cigarette lighter,
but I dont think it will work all that well on the 03 ZX6R 636 that I got oh well more of a reason to take it easy on the bike _________________ 3 928s, |
