Well I got my Rear arches....not what I was expecting but I can make them work. I was not going to mold them in, so I will have to come up with something...

vwwrencher, are they poor quality or what? Just curious what you were expecting and what you got exactly...?

The quality is good, but I was expecting there to be a lip on the inside to use to attach them. I wanted to mount them like the factory did with the fender beading and all. I guess I'm just kinda picky.

how exactly did the factory mounth them ? i've never seen a picture from under the rear arches on an original Carrera GT. Did they cut the old fender out or what?

vwwrencher, can you please snap some pics of them.
I have considered for long time, if I should buy the arches from gt-racing (relatively cheap, except shipping to Europe) or from Holland (very expensive but thy look perfect on photo)

I have never seen under the fender but it appears from the outside, that they are fastened to thebody from underneath with a fender beading (similar to a VW Bug) in-between the body and the fender extension. I do know is that they were not molded on.

Arx, I will snap some pictures this week and get them on here.

I thought the factory flares were metal and they were welded??
DP's were fiberglass??

GT flares, front fenders and nose were plastic (somekind) and were bolted
GTS had these made from glassfibre
