If Porsche were to bring back the 924 and let us redesign it what would change, add, keep, how would you make it?

First I would change the motor. I would still want a 4 cylinder, but with a better design, I would at least want 50 more horsepower.

Five lug wheels and four wheel disks. Better bumpers, and updated dash. Maybe nicer rocker panels. Thats all I would want. I guess a 924S, but better. plus I think i would want to avoid an interference engine if possible. Are most cars interference engines nowadays?

They already remade it, several times. The 944, the 968?

Then they made Boxster, now the Cayman... what more do want?

This gets me thinking...why dont people swap the old engine for something like the 1.8t's from audi? Not cost effective? Seems like a decent engine, and fairly economical.

I think that would be a good candidate for a new engine in an "updated 924" I think an engine like that is great, but most of us would obviously want a porsche engine, I cant imagine what they could get a 4 cylinder to put out nowadays.

Only one thing I want different:

I WANT THE DA** FUSE BLOCK IN AN ACCESSIBLE SPOT!

I can put up with low horsepower, cracked dashes, all that stuff. But that fuse block location, in a car that is electronically challenged....sheesh!

Have you seen one of those Audi 1.8-litre Turbo engines? I was driving one yesterday. Had a look under the hood... doubt they'd fit in a 924 mate...

Who wants to bet that a 2-door 4-cyl version of the Panamera will see the light of day?

Aren't the dimensions too big if it is on the same platform?

I'm guessing that Porsche will eventually introduce a shorter 2-dr version of the Panamera, with half of that car's engine. Badda-boom Badda-bing: instant 924/944/968 revisit.

i would keep the same body shape, but get rid of the pop up light and put in 4 HID light (not the same a 944 or 968, khal) make the motor a 2.8L (4 cylinder) small bore, deep stroke with a 20 valve head and valve timing on both intake and exhast. turbo? 6-speed transmission. there would never be a Automatic. leather bucket seats. oh and euro style bumpers with fog lights

20 valves on four cyl? Why? - I'm no expert, but with the exception of the looks, whta you've just described is very close to the 968!

Try a 968 if you haven't already, easily the best Porsche I've ever owned. Mint and if at first you don't like the looks, they grow. You also maintain the practicalities of the 924, large boot, four(ish) seats, but you get the 6speed box, some very nice curved metal up front, the seats fog lights, variable valve timing... Mmmmm if I could afford one again I would have one tomorrow, no, today.

I tihnk he means 16 valve. I read somewhere that having to valves for each 'cycle' increases flow quite a bit. I think the idea of keeping the basic values of a 924 would really make it shine. But obviously, we would want them to drop some of the goofy problems it has, but technology would take care of that.

A 3-litre V-6 with EFI, 6 speed transmission, 5 bolt wheels w/ 4 discs, upgraded electricals. Roll-down rear windows would be cool.

OK, this thread is retarded enough already. But if you must continue...

Porsche already did a turbo version of the 924. I own one. They never had an automatic and they did have leather bucket seats. And my "Euro" car has "Euro" bumpers and fog lights

Perhaps you should just move to Oz and buy a 924 Turbo?
