I can just see it now,
"Hi, my name is Tim, how can I help you?"
"I'd like that cotton shirt over there, how much?"
"$5 sir, but here is the coolest thing, a vintage polyester shirt with pockets and cool colors"
"Yeah, thats nice, but I think I prefer the subtle pattern in that cotton shirt, its wrinkle free right?"
"Yes it is, but the polyester needs to be ironed every other day, and since the color technology was different when this shirt was made, you have to wash it in cold water and all by itself, it only costs $10."
"Hmm, I think I really like the cotton thanks."
"Ok, polyester it is. That comes to $17."
"What?"
"I included the self care instructions manual too. Thanks for topping in, come back soon." _________________ 924.org (no time to complete)

Actually the newest Probe V6s are mazda powered.

I'll hold that Tim doesn't need a car |
Actually all probes are Forzda; and the auto-trannys at least suck pretty bad.
I had a Tracer with was had for badging IN the car, and Mercury badging outside the car, but in the same place as a Mazda, not where Mercury put badging.
Either way, it was a 323 and was more than reliable. Eventually the tranny started leaking and locked up. So we got rid of it since my 24 was fixed. It took 2 years of me trying to break it before it finally let go. _________________ 1987 924S Guards Red

Geez I'd love to have a job that was a 5 minute walk from my house, I'd walk it all the time. It takes me 2 minutes to walk to the end of my driveway. _________________ Mike

skemcin, no I won't be working at a clothing store I want to apply at future shop and best buy, I know a little about computers and electronics, doesn't look that hard.
there are a lot of other easy jobs as well, I know someone that works at a video store and all he does is stand around an talk. I'm also thinking of applying at banks but I have no experience but I'll still try. I'm probably just going to stick with my job until I find a new job.
Yeah the ford probe is a piece of crap, read all the reviews on carsurvey....
Saabs kind of look cool and they are cheap to buy because most people hate them. I'm not sure when GM took over Saab but after that they became really unreliable..... I forgot which years this was but alot of newer Saabs have engine failures with really low miles. _________________ 78 924 sold.

Tim, so far, you have shot down everyones ideas. Saabs suck, and Probes suck, and hondas are stupid. Vw's are to expensive....
Tim, I don't think you will find a car that fits your needs.

Oh great, just what the world needs... another tech. salesperson who "knows a little" about computers!
One can only hope you know more than just how to click the "Start" button...

My parents own two SAAB's, an '87(?) Aero Turbo and a '92 Carlsson. They feel like driving a bus compared to our cars! Rock solid, though. And very smooth compared to the 924.
Two worst points, IMHO?
1. They're front-wheel-drive.
2. Even though they've been very reliable in general, they cost a bomb when something needs to be repaired! An example? Just a headlight lense is over AU$200 new... That's just the piece of glass in the front, nothing else!
Did I mention they're front-wheel-drive? _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

I probably know more about computers and electronics than alot of those sales people in future shop etc. Most of those guys who work there are clueless. I hate computers though.... I've taken a few computer science courses as electives and they were easy to get As in but really boring. _________________ 78 924 sold.

Yeah Saabs are pretty rare here, I don't ever see someone driving a Saab... You'll also have to find a Saab mechanic. _________________ 78 924 sold.

GM took over Saab 16 years ago and never made a single cent of profit on them. I believe they build
130,000 a year and that doesn't make up for production expenses. |

The Aero Turbo was almost a God down here when it was new. As a kid I remember my mates old man (the one with the 924 Turbo) drooling over his mates car. One of the first really "high-tech" European engines available down here (without going to, say, a Porsche... ), with a twin-cam, 16-valve, EFI, intercooled turbo four-cylinder. Very powerful and very fast. Good lookin', too, if you ask me. Especially in black. _________________ '80 924 Turbo |
