You know everyone makes mistakes but I hate it when there are just stupid ones.
The 1977 924 that I recently saved from the crusher.
Three things I recently fixed that kind of get me.
The worst would be the front wheel bearings.
The last owner... well the one before the last... cranked those suckers in as tight as the nut would go! Just about destroyed the spindle. Lucky I heard the beginings of disaster and knew what it was. Got them off and inspected it all. Seems ok... but man stupid stupid stupid. I almost could not get the things off it was on so tight!
Next is the fuel pump relay. He had put a jumper in the plugs for the relay. Of course not a large enough wire so it was overheating to boot! So I figure check out the back of the relay board to make sure this guy did not cut anything. Turns out that the ground circuit for the relay had come out of the back. I replaced it and put in a new relay... and bingo! Car starts perfectly now with no running fuel pump any time I want to just hear the radio.
Next... and I guess this will be it for now. The PO rewired the cooling fans. Cut all the wires under the dash and up at the fans and ran them to a switch in the car. Man! All this over a $12 thermal fan switch! I purchased a new switch... had to rewire all the appropriate lines the guy cut and put the new TFS in place. Now the car can keep itself cool again on its own. Just stupid things.
Heck... plus with all the other wires I pulled out of the car it is less weight!
Oh he wired the front headlights also... seems the ground crimp was lost at the headlight motors. Fixed that and pulled out all the wires he put in and extra switch.
AH ok I will shut up now. Car is quite nice now that I do not have to turn on 10 switches to get it all to work... just the ignition now _________________ 1982 924

I agree. My car the guy who owned it before us just used cheap white wire, to try and rewire it, he also used some lamp cord wire in some places. Man that guy was a Mouron I HATE MOURONS, WHO CAN'T WIRE" _________________ What i own:

I dont think the PO of my car did much to it. He let it sit for a year after he bought it and then sold it.
The guy before him must have been an idiot from all the work I had to do. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA
