If you have trouble getting everything apart to reach the ignition switch, i actually just did this on a '85 944 today (along with pulling the entire dash out completley), which is the same as the 924 interior today. Let me know if you need an extra hand. Its realatively simple procedure, the hardest part of it i think is not breaking anything on the wiper and headlight stalks when pulling it off.
And from the sounds of it, i think your ignition switch is the problem. _________________ 1987 Zermatt Silver Porsche 924S <-- Sold in Nov. '04
