I was going to place this in the performance forum but figured it would do better here. I just chipped my 924s and am now ready to take it a step further. The intake looks pretty effecient on the 924s and I have a K&N filte rin it as well so I didnt know if it would be a waste of money to put a cone filter and adapter on the VAF, Exhaust is another issue. I saw some "ANSA" full exhaust systems on ebay for a pretty good price, just wondering if they are the same diameter as stock or if it would be a nice upgrade. [/b]

It has been my experience that in additon to a free flow exhaust, you need to get a of race type headers to really feel a difference in horsepower from the exhaust. I would advise dealing with the suspension first, and maybe do the exhaust later.

I'm under the impression that the ANSA exhaust systems for the 944/924S are basically replacements for the stock systems.

I agree with drumboxer though, spend your money on suspension upgrades. If you want to make it faster, put it on a diet!

I took 110 lbs out of my trunk (spare, interior, rear seat) and I can feel a small difference already. I've got another 200-300 lbs to go too!

If you are planning on some sort of competition, before making any changes, I suggest that you choose a class, and check the rules to make sure that you don't turn you car into an orphan that is tossed into a modified class you would would be uncompetitive in.

Even your engine chip may bump the car into a "prepared" or modified class from a stick class. People in the modified classes often spend much more money on their cars than people who are completing for fun, and who only have relatively modest mods like chips.

Cone filters are a waste of money and often lose hp over the stock air cleaner in many cars. The 924S like the 944, already draws clean air from the left inner fender. Why would you want to make it draw hot air from inside of the engine compartment instead?

Ansa makes several lines of cat back exhausts for the 924, and the 944/924S. The most commonly available is the OEM style. OEM style is designed to fit and sound like the original stock exhaust, with same diameter as the original, at a lower replacement price than factory replacement exhaust. Very similar to the performance with the original exhaust, but definitely lighter in weight.
