Well the beauty is the dimensions - figure its less than 4" in diameter at the collar and of course fittings would protrude, but that would be a minor issue.
It can fit just about any place ---
Of course toss in reservoir, pump, fittings, hose and mini-rad. and you have a complete compact system.
Considering that it works with just using Radiator coolant shared with the engine - imagine the results with its own self contained system... well you read the initial test results... |

Depends on options - basically if you want just the pipe and piece together your own system or... you want a complete system.

ok. It just now found this thread. I accidentally clicked on the nose mount when I voted. Oops lol. I like the front mount idea. I don't want to have to do body modifications and repaint to install an intercooler. I'm all for the front mount air/air system. I'd be happy to remove the washer fluid tank to run pipes on that side if that's workable. I'd like to see the pictures that people are requesting also. The pictures are of an air water system right? _________________ 1980 Porsche 924 N/A USA

that page claims a 90 degree temp drop but from what it says it sounds like that might be a combination of those inline air/water intercoolers and the front mount air/air intercooler.
Aside from that, I like the simplicity of the front mount air/air system. I'd rather run some slightly longer tubes and not have to worry about extra water lines and extra water pump and more complexity under the hood. I see the benefits of the air/water system. . . but weighting the pros and cons I'm in favor of air/air system. _________________ 1980 Porsche 924 N/A USA

The 90 degree temp drop was from the liquid unit by itself... before charge air reached the air to air setup. Using radiator fluid - not a stand alone resevoir and coolant. The unit functions better - with its only supply and mini-radiator - as is typical with most A2W units.
Yes you have a coolant line to the unit and from the unit - or multiple lines if installing more than one.
We already have a twin configuration being tested - basically invision a y on each end splitting flow - but allowing a larger CFM flow.
Lots of directions to go with this. We are only scratching the surface in testing. As demand increases other colors will be offered as well.
Air 2 Air is simipler - as posted previously - 20" from tip to tip is ideal to fit without major modifcation in the lower spoiler area. The nose has its limits as does the sides.
Which is why the A2W units - have merrit because they do not require access to air flow, only their radiators do.
Each choice has its pros and cons - I love high performance in a small pacakage - that is something the unit you saw offers. It is also low profile - and not very evident when fitted under the hood...
Having a big intercooler in front of the radiator - has its own pros and cons... and even the look is subject to personal taste. |

So, from what you've seen for the setup you are starting to test, with water pump and small radiators etc. How does the price compare to a front mounted setup? I'm not apposed to the setup with those cool new inline intercoolers, just worried about the cost and a little about complexity under hood with lots of little water tubes (with possibility of leaks) and extra wiring for pump etc. _________________ 1980 Porsche 924 N/A USA

| I'm in..what is the status on this thing? lol..my engine is out , will go through and get new set of seals, etc. and the turbo has been rebuilt/updated as this car has not been run in 17 years! Going back together it is definitely getting modern upgrades, so let's see where this intercooler has settled out and find out how do I get a kit ready to go! |
