I just tried a new way, as a bat takes two people and the friend who would be best to help is in the Hospital. I have a DE this weekend but the 17s were hitting the outer lip, so after looking, thinking, more thinking, I came up with this idea.

First, I got a small 1/4 inch board, a shop rag, 2 clamps and a pair of Vise Grips.
After clamping the board, with the cloth between the fender & board, then starting in the center, clamped the Vise Grips, and went out, re-clamping side by side until I covered the area needed rolling, then I tightened the Vise Grips and repeated the entire process until the lib was flush. And after removing the clamps, the paint had no new damage. Test drive had no rubbing.

Cool! I maintain that even if it doesn't look like you'll get any rubbing, rolling the lips is a good idea in a track car, since if something moves around a little bit more than you'd expect, those exposed edges can easily cut a tire right up in no time. Once they're rolled, they can ride on the tire all day long, and nothing will happen except paint removal.

BTW, welcome to the board, Byron!

The car ran great, no tire rubbing and lots of fun, I'm taking it back to RRR in 2 weeks.

Thanks for the welcome

I just did this and it worked great!

I used channel-locks instead of vice-grips, which worked fine too

Thanks racerbvd!

Yes, the bat is great, if you have 2 people, I didn't have an extra hand, pluss, the 924/944s have a flat arch, not a curved one. The correct tool is the best, but that tool isn't cheap.

Channel locks and a board with a shop towel zip tied to it worked for me.

ohh yea I found it, WOW thats big money for a fender tool and the adapter is like $100, Do you think a local body shop would be able to do it?? Or Do you think Im better off just getting the tool, I always like having tools

Rolled fenders ... catchy phrase. i mean you wouldnt say ...
.. yea i inverted the lip ... i have a bunch clamps that easily over
work the rolling pin though the rolling pin would be quicker if
your strong enough or have a friend to leverage it out &
hold while you twist. A sm bat and 2 guys and - BAM its over.

I did with an ice-hockey puck and 2kg hammer to my brothers mercedes and it came out well, thats because I didnt have fender rollers and neither there were so much clearence between the tire and the fender to do it with bat... U can barely get ur finger between tire and fender.
