edit $600.
| Quote: | | Porsche 924 Turbo. Runs, Drives, Stops. Needs tuning(timing, etc) and alternator. This model is far superior to the standard model in braking, handeling, and acceleration. I'm selling it at more than half the price of others. Timing is off a little at higher rpm. Passed emissions with flying colors. Good project car. First acceptable offer takes it. You'll have a hard time finding a turbo for this cheap. |
the dash looks realy bad

At that price? How could you go wrong? And if you do buy it and part it, let's talk - we need some bits and pieces. _________________ '88 944 Auto - may or may not resurrect |

Well, it probably won't stop much better than an NA, having only got the 4bolt brakes, looks like the wires may have been messed with a bit, but for $600 that can't be bad to start drive and run... would make a nice project...you need to have a look at it. If it really passed emissions, that's good.
Aren't those 4bolt lattice alloys and the turbo nose worth nearly $60 on ebay over your side of the Atlantic...not that I advocate parting a car like that. _________________ 1983 - 924 (185K miles) - not mint

| Timing belt bad = valves bent. 80's had the snailshell trans which is famous for bad syncros. Check to see if the shifter is sloppy. If it isn't, the trans still might be shot and someone replaced the bushings to fix the sloppy shifter. Is the car 4 lug or 5? |

Yeah, but this says it starts, runs and has passes emissions...the valves won't be bent if it does that...they probably mean it hasn't been replaced in a while and the front end really should be done before going any distance.
EDIT: And it is a 4-bolt in the picture. _________________ 1983 - 924 (185K miles) - not mint

| Sorry, the pics didn't come up first time. I remeber that car from Ebay. I thought you said it needed a timing belt (maybe just due). Anyway, $600 doesn't sound bad for a runner. |

Yabbut here's the danger. We got our 931 for $1,100 CDN and didn't plan to do more than throw some stuff in and drive it till it died, then part it. But Gracie fell in love with it before it threw a rod. Now we're looking at a rebuild. Frankly, that'll be great fun - we like this kind of thing. But the purchase price is just beginning. So decide now if you're going to drive it or part it. They're a blast in every way. Even when they don't run! _________________ '88 944 Auto - may or may not resurrect |

more info
| Quote: | | Sorry, I'm just in the process of moving and everything is kinda crazy right now. Sorry it took so long to get back to you. When I got the car it had some wiring issues. I hired a professional wiring guy to come do some work on it. He re-worked the center counsel wiring, fuel pump wiring, and some other misc wiring that the previous owner had tried to do himself. The interior is decent for the age. It's got some cracks in the dash but the interior is in good shape. The Odometer reds 49k, but it's probably 149 althought the previous owner did tell me it had been owned by pcca and had sat for about 10 years at one point. The glass is good all around. I can take some more pictures this weekend and send them to you. Anything in particular you'd want me to photograph? |

In my first post, I was under the impression you might want to restore/rebuild it as a project car.
But I have to agree with the others, if you just buy it and part it out you're probably not going to lose money (although I doubt you'll actually make a lot of profit... and it'll take some time, I imagine).
If you decide to restore/rebuild it, my guess is that you should be prepared for a long and hard struggle. Hopefully, it's a rough diamond... but...
It's always good to hear that it's running but you'll wanna confirm that it runs well enough. I mean, if you can start it, that's one thing. But what if it starts when cold but won't start when hot? What if it's leaving pools of oil everywhere? What if it overheats after five minutes? What if it starts and runs but it's rough as guts and blows giant, evil-coloured smoke clouds and/or makes tortured-metal noises? What if the driveline crunches and grinds and whines and the suspension creaks and thumps? What if the brakes shudder or screech?
All of that stuff means expensive parts replacement at the least. Total rebuild at worst.
It also means that current parts won't be suitable for re-sale... _________________ '80 924 Turbo |
