OK, My door lock got stuck, the key will not turn and the button came out and took the linkage with it. How do I get this fixed? Removing the inner door panel with the door closed seems a bit "challenging" but right now I don't know what else to try.

If by "challenging" you mean impossible then yes, that would be "challenging" I think your best bet would be to try to fish with a coat hanger and push the linkage down from above to unlock it, then take the door panel off and reattatch it. Someone else here might know a nice trick for it though. Good luck.

The outer squeege-trim piece might pry up and off easily (it did on mine). That gives you more room to work and see down there.

Take the door panel off the other door (assuming it works) and see what the mechanism is like first. You may be able to fish it easier if you know what you're looking for.

Good luck!

Got it! Thanks all. Whodak, great idea, falls under the catagory of DUH, why didn't I think of that. My door panle resembles a vinyl covered piece of crumbling cardboard and has no top to speak of.

Now that the door is open I took the panel off and will add 2 layers of fiberglass mat on the inner part of the panel today to hold it together before my son puts it back on.

With the linkage out you have to hit a "bullseye" with the coat hanger, bent like the linkage. If you pry the panel off just enough to see inside with a flashlight you can see your target and and it is easy to hook.

I've got a couple panels from an early 944 I'd be willing to part with, if you need different ones. They're made for electric windows though. They're brown and tan.
