Once a month, I have to drain water from this area. (1st pic) I remove the three rubber bungs, stick a piece of tubing inside and then remove water by sucking! I then dry out using an air line.
The water that comes out is always clean, and the funny thing is I can hear it sloshing from the drivers seat. Somebody told me the windscreen may need resealing, but I can't see how if the screen is leaking affects this , as this appears to be a closed box section.
Any ideas? _________________ 1981 931 S2

There is a drain at the front (inboard side) of that compartment that is obviously plugged. It is hard to reach but clearing it out should cure your standing water problem.

I've never heard of that section of the unibody collecting water. Is it rusted on the bottom into the fender well? _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

No, there is no rust anywhere on the car.
This leak is driving me mad, the same unibody on the right hand side of the car is completely dry.
The water is clean, so it is probably coming in from the top somewhere, when I wash it for example. I never take it out when it rains anyway.
I tried sealing the bungs with sealer, no change. Using PET, I have checked which other parts of the body join this section and then checked as far as possible thoroughly in case there is a seal or something missing, nothing. _________________ 1981 931 S2

Thanks for the descriptions smoothie
The factory "vents" in your pic, I suspect may be one cause as on Saturday when I was drying the area with compressed air, I pointed the nozzle very close at this "vent" and I could hear the change in noise in the unibody (the bungs were removed). If it is from here, the hole must be minute!! Strange though, because this "vent"is under the fender top. Will try sealing both of these.
The area you mention around the A pillar, I suspect you mean the "gap" between the pillar and the top of the fender. If something is amiss there, how do I do something? _________________ 1981 931 S2

Might be a long shot but I've had water leak in via the antenna hole in the fender. Not sure if this is near the problem area you have. _________________ '80 924 n/a SOLD |
