Everyone, I am looking for six do-it-yourself articles on repairing, upgrading, and maintaining your 924's for 9 Magazine.
What we need:
Photos of each step along with a description of what to do. (We will format the photos and edit the wording)
What you get:
Your name in 9 Magazine under your article, one of our new writers t-shirts, media pass for the SEMA Show in Vegas in November 2006, and parts, products, and VIP passes.
We are looking for all levels of articles from basic to major. If you have a suggestion, or a question please email me directly at bminson@9magazine.com or IM "porsche9mag" on Yahoo Messenger.
Thanks everyone!

Is it only 924 or 924 Turbo too?
I could write "What to do to the poor reliability of the turbo on 931".
Or anything else.
Heck, I'm a car journalist, I'd do it just for the fun _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

and that perennial favourite "How do I work out why my battery keeps going flat?".
Brian, what would be the position on copyright? As you're not actually offering money I assume you have no problem with the author presenting their work elsewhere, like at 924.org. _________________ 1979 924 (Gone to a better place)

Brian,
Not to be a pain or wet blanket... or slap you around, but I was under the general impression that the magazine needs a lot of work.
I think Raceboy, would a huge asset to you, given his profession and knowledge... others too.
Really no offense I like the magazine, but seriously, it needs an overhaul, or atleast some changes.
I am not expert, but I remember a magazine we (some friends of mine) did back in the day. It was small, focused on boost and racing, it was local to Hawaii, done from high school, started with a typewriter and taken to a print shop, it was a pain in the @rse, it required a lot of hours of work, both in writing and in editing. It was fun, but it sucked when you had to retype something.
As I understand it to date, their are considerable people with missed issues, no CD, etc,
I never got my free issue, so I never subscribed, so if it has improved I wouldn’t know... I just figured if you can’t deliver on that, well.... I see a bunch of stuff over on pelican about the same kind of things.
Don’t let me bust your bubble, but don’t you need to address those things before adding content?
From what I saw when reading the few issues I got a hold of, well I saw editing errors, spelling, etc... I am not one to be big on spelling, but in a magazine?
I don’t want to beat you up, but I am raising the red flag. I think before anyone takes the time to contribute, shouldn't they get some assurance that the magazine is on the right track? I don’t know just seems like a waste of time, if they put forth the effort and it doesn’t amount to anything.
It’s great to see a group of guys launch something and make a go of it, but seems like a lot needs to be fixed. It also seems spread to thin to cover everything. Now that’s your business not mine, but are you doing something special on the 924 or are you planning to have a 924/44/68 or 28 section?
I am all for the DIY articles, I can contribute a lot in the area of boost, nitrous and similar modification as can others, their is a lot on the board that would be great, but... well I for one would get bent, if something I put a lot of time into…
Don’t get me wrong I think the water-cooled cars need a dedicated grass roots kind of magazine. I hope you are back on the right track, please correct me if I am wrong.
Just bugs me to see a magazine with potential suffering so much… |

Yes the magazine has been hit with lots of problems, but with my divorce and child custody issues at rest the mag is looking really good.
Here is a sample copy for everyone to down load and check out. We have never had a 924 department, but if we can get the articles in we can do it.
The link to the pdf is going to be http://www.9magazine.com/data
The username is fy23s4
The password is 12Rc83
This is about a 15mb PDF
E-mail me at bminson@9magazine.com with comments and suggestions.

I'd be happy to pen something about the UK Speed Championships and the success of the 924 models in that.
Cheers

Timstar, their already is a DIY supercharger for the 924, as well as other cars as well as kits to add other superchargers, but I think what you meant to say was an article on a DIY Supercharger conversion for the 924???
That is you want a DIY article on how to add a supercharger to the 924?
Or
You want something that gets in the dirt about getting one, where to buy, what to do to make it work, build your own or whatever and put that on the 924?
You should be more specific, not to mention, that give your current capabilities installing a supercharger would be beyond your capabilities... then again...
Their are several good examples of supercharger installs on the 924 here on the board. Although they are not DIY articles.
Hemm... how about a section just about boost? That would be good, sort of a universal tech section on BOOST, that can feature particular articles on supercharger and turbocharger conversions.
Then EFI, etc.... |
