34, database/web programmer with 3 kids (3.5 yrs, 2 yrs, 2 month), so not much time left to work on the car lately.

Just to impress database guys around here, my big shot so far is a database for the National Health Security System in Oracle, collecting the country's outpatient data, running since '98, with over 3.2 billion rows in the biggest table.. and still growing around 45-50 mill. rows/month

Age: 27
Degree: BS Chemical Engineering

Job: "Nuclear Engineer" for 3.5 years at Nuclear Power Plant in Reliability Engineering Department at a public utility. I find out why stuff breaks (old age, not changing oil, infant mortality, etc.) on the equipment at the plant...mostly paperwork.

Hobbies: tennis, softball and adult (no contact) ice hockey leagues. Starting to do some woodworking.

Car info: about average mechanical ability and am learning fast due to owning my 924 and a '76 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40.

Well, I am retired twice. I retired from the USAF in 1984, and retired from Lockheed Martin two and a half years ago.

My first degree was in electronics (a two year technical degree), and I have technical degrees in simulation, and technical education. My bachelors degree is in business, and my masters is a dual major in management, and human relations.

In my first job with Martin Marietta (later Lockheed Martin), I set up and managed the "Manned Spaceflight Engineer" (DoD Payload Specialists on the Space Shuttle) training program for the USAF and USN payload specialists (Astronauts).

I later did technical audits, and then set up the Corprate Environmental Audit program for Lockheed Martin.

Now, I spend my time working out, playing golf, and working on my 931. Either that, or cleaning house, since my wife still works.

My last assignment was finance manager for the Lockheed Martin environmental restoration programs for our closed plants.

All you guys and your degrees, yoiks.

I'm the example of what NOT to do with your life

I graduated high school with good grades, but instead of going to college right away, I took "a year off". 10 years later, I've had the following occupations (in chronological order):
7-Eleven clerk, Pizza Hut delivery, Saw mill labourer, Future Shop, making 18-wheeler interiors, Mr. Lube, Computer Technician, Dishwasher, Prep Cook, Satellite Telecommunications SysAdmin, Warehouse, Construction Laborer, HP Notebook Support Agent, then Tech Supervisor, Prefab Home machine operator, Rebuilt Brake Ship & Receive, Turbocharger manufacturing, and CURRENTLY I'm a fabricator for a company that builds exclusively geo-survey drills and core-sampling drills.

The moral of this story is, say no to drugs

I'm another of the less educated although I'm the supervisor of an animal control unit responsible for an area the size of the state of New Jersey, or the country of Isreal.

I've worked on a number of Motion Pictures including Casino and Fools Rush In performing inspections for the American Humane Association.

I spent my first years(since I was 20) working in a shop that did repair and overhaul of gas turbines for helicopters, civilian and military. Then on to getting various licenses in non-destructive testing.Magnaflux (MPI),liquid penetrant (LPI),ultrasonic (UT) and finally radiography(RT) using a nuclear source.Have worked for all of the major aviation players here, even did some inspection of the Canada Arm on the space shuttle, then got bored.Did some aviation sheet metal, got bored.Tried to be an aviation processes auditor, got bored.
Today i'm 34 and in an 8 month, full time course to be a machinist.I have a job waiting for me at a small (40 person) shop that does repair and overhauls of gas turbines.I've worked there before doing NDT,great people, great shop, generous employers what else could I ask for and only 7 minutes from home.
For R&R the missus' and I spend our time either riding or walking around this beautiful city and it's surrounding attractions.
Hopefully in the near future some good buddies and I will open our own shop. It's still in the planning stage, the DOT paperwork to be an AMO here is BRUTAL ! but we'll get it done,we always do.

32, and I hold a degree in Political Science. I started my career working for two Members of Congress in Washington, D.C.. Then went on to become a lobbyist with the housing industry working in governmental affairs with Members of Congress/campaigns/state ballot initiatives, etc.

Now I am an account executive with a cutting edge web-based outbound email company that works with Members of Congress who wish to communicate with their constituents via email, and I love my job although some days I would not mind doing what vaughan's doing

I love Speed Channel, have always been a huge sportscar and racing fan, race 924's with my father, and play goalie on an indoor soccer team. I also spend time reading about history.

As the great Steve McQueen once said in the movie "Lemans": "Racing is life, everything else is just waiting".
