I have a 931 Fuel Distributor with the center piston stuck. I dont want to wrench it out obviously, but the old fuel has it gunked up in there. Any ideas on how to get it out?.... Air Pressure through the main fuel inlet maybe?

thanks

Try spraying PB Blaster in all the injector and WUR ports on the top of the distributor then wait for it to work. You could also try pressurizing the WUR port but be careful as too much pressure could harm the o rings and push the piston out too fast.

What is PB Blaster? I never heard of it..... So place it in the 4 injector ports, let it soak, and then seal those 4 holes & put air pressure through the main center port?... Any places I should seal up before pressurizing?

And yea, that thing looks like a bullet in loaded gun if pressure is added. I can see the headlines already "Man Shoots himself with fuel distributor"

PB Blaster is a brand of penetrating lubricant sold in the US. Much better than WD-40. Think I would try the air without plugging the injector ports. If the piston is higher enough there will be very little air going to the injector outlets.

Yea, its all the way up in there..... I will take it to work & see if one of my mechanics can give it a shot on break or something... I have some PB Blaster, just dawned on me what it was (LONG DAY!)... I sprayed it in the 5 holes & will let it soak over night,,,,,

Any other suggestions if air pressure doesnt get it out?.... I am assuming 200lbs of air pressure should fire that thing out like a bullet though,,,,,

If you blow it out, make sure the piston isn't damaged. They are machine matched to the distributor so replacment isn't possible.

Im going to have him set it on some 2" foam & have a folded blanket under it & then a phone book.... I am sure it will be okay once I get it cleaned out... I didnt think shooting it on the pavement would be a real good idea,,,haha

If that one gets dinged or it's rusted there is a distributor on ebay with no bids (yet).

I sold this one to a friend, so I am going to try this first... If it fails, I'll let him know about it....

I should know by tomorrow so I hopefully will have time if this doesnt work... I am pretty optomistic that it will

I would not try to blow it out.
That might damage the diaphragm.

What i have done is use some berryman b12 chemtool.
put a few drops on the piston.
use a strong magnet and slowly work the piston. the b12 will dissolve the varnish

Good ole carb clean worked fine on mine. Did the same as helowrench with the magnet. Just keep working it and trying different solvents.
