Well after debating selling my 924 me and my dad decided to fix her up. Since i bent the fender up in a crash last summer. Its a 85 euro with a 5 speed. And i was wondering whats the best engine swap to put in the car sicne the one in it now i thinks on its last leg. We are looking for possibly a v8 or something along those lines. But would be nice to get another german engine but find that highly unlikely here in alberta (canada). So what kinda domestic engine drop in alright. Seeing as u need a adapter for the bell housing and what not. _________________ Go hard or go home |

Just remove your engine, tear it down and rebuild it. Buy an engine rebuild kit from EBS in Las Vegas, $345 US (www.ebsracing.com). All the machine work you'll need done can be done in Edmonton by E-C Automotive (477-1088 8731 118 Avenue). Figure a generous $600 for machine work. That's about $1000 for a new engine. You'll never do a swap for that cheap. You already have a Euro engine, so you don't even need to buy higher compression pistons. Maybe a hotter cam and some head work, but it really isn't neccessary.
If you do decide on an engine swap, drop me a line when the project sits for too long and you want to dump it. _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

lol thanks bud. We were thinking of selling it if u are interested. If we couldnt sell it we were just gonna keep it as more of a toy but we are tight for room here.
Also with that rebuild kit it increase the preformace a bit? since if i remember right the head on the 924 wasnt the greatest. My memory is a bit fuzzy since havent been on here for a while _________________ Go hard or go home |

The kit itself won't add any more performance than the stock 125 hp your Euro had when new. However, 25+ years on it is unlikely your car is still making 125 hp at the flywheel due to general wear and tear. New bearings, rings, seals, valve guides etc will bring you back up to factory specs. The head is definitely the restriction for performance on the 924, opening it up with a good port job and increasing the valve size would certainly help, along with a sportier cam grind. Once that is done, you'll see gains from the typical perfromance mods (cat delete, bigger throttle body, etc etc). _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

yea it would be awsome to keep a porsche engine in it, just want more power . It will be a big project but i think worth it in the end. I heard a 928 5.0L fit just need to move the booster or something like that if i recall. You interested in buying the car as is? _________________ Go hard or go home |

How bad is the crash damage? Do you have detailed pictures of the car from all views (body, interior, engine, etc etc) you could email? I'd have to convince the wife I needed another Porsche, but anything is possible. _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

Most cost effective swap is the 931 engine. Find a 931 parts car(not hard, I've come across several) and snag the whole engine. Rebuild, intercooler, a little bit of work and you're seeing 200+hp.
Get into better management, better turbocharger, better pistons and you can make well over 300hp... _________________ '81 931 in various states of assembly |
