My car finally made its way to paint. The interior is sprayed with truck bedliner since my carpet was shot - I think it turned out great.

Here are the most recent pics:

Good idea, I imagine if you put a thin carpet over it it would grip enough to stay put...and if you left the carpet out, it would be grippy enough for your feet to not slip all over it. How thick did it go on? Can't wait to see it all finished up!

we just sprayed a 1/4 inch thick. I just wanted a coat good enough to seal everything and give the interior a consistant look. And the grip is perfect - nothing will slip around in there and, as you mention, if I want to lay carpet back in, there will be no harm done. We sparayed the liner up to (what I like to call) the flood line. So everything that is not completely upwright got sprayed (except the truck area).

Oh, since the original car had the lower front valance, lower rocker panels, and lower rear valance all painted black, we sparayed the bedliner in those areas as well.

When the car is finished, it will be the stock silver and then two, thick vinyl racing stripes down the center of the car. So, if I ever wanted to really return the car to stock, I can get them removed. I've seen the vinyl used on a few cars, and its rather impressive. It gives a great fit/finish to the car and doesn't cost as much - and is especially good for repairs, removal, replacement (no repainting).

I'll post more pics as progress is made.

Hmmm, this bedliner thing is interesting. I know it's durable, but anyone know the thermal and sound insulation properties of this stuff? How about the weight? More or less than carpet, padding, etc? How about cost?

I, for one, am very pleased with the results. I'm not sure what it will do as far as the sound goes. When I stripped my carpet out, I did NOT remove (except for the rear half of the tranny hump) the sound deadening material that was installed by the factory. On top of that, I just know that it's thick shock absorbing qualities dampen sound and vibration as well. It sprays on typically at a 1/4 inch and weighs approximately 1.2 pounds per square foot. The cost varies, but most mid-sized pickups can be done for around $400 - but since the inside floor of the 924 is so small, I would think it would cost somewhere around $200. I bartered my paint and body work, but I can ask what my buddy what he would have charged me if you need a more precise figure - but I think $200 is about right.

custom made. I am happy with it. It is chrome molly tubing and I finished it with the truck bed liner I used on the inside floor and rocker panels.

I got the call last night that the car was painted. I'll post pics when I get a chance to take em.

Question... Why didn't you take out the tail lights and side markers.. not to mention the rear view mirrors?

Those are all easy to take off and would have ensured proper adhesion of the pain in those areas. Any time you have an edge it is best to roll over it with the paint to keep it from pealing.

It had come to my mind to ask my buddies paint guy why he had decided to do that. Since I know little about paint, I figured it was because he is matching the paint and didnt need to. I'll ask what he thinks though . . . thanks for the insight.

I'm not sure why there would be an issue viewing my site. One luxury of being a web developer is that I have an adundance of server space that I can use, including my house. I have a mirror of my 924 site at http://www.iribbit.net/my924 . If you can't see that please let me know - I'd be very interested in finding out why.
