Hey guys,
Im on the verge of undertaking an audio upgrade on my 87 924s. I already replaced the front 4x6 speakers with some kenwoods which were recommened on clarks-garage.com which fit beautifully. They sound great too. My question is this. Ive bought 2 10' subwoofers which i was looking at mounting in the side compartments in the back, but they arnt going to fit. What ive decided to do is mount the both of them in the spare tire well. I sized them and they fit, and there is enough airspace. However I have two problems.
The first is that there is about a 1 inch whole at the bottom that looks out to the ground. I am going to have to fill that so the enclosure is airtight. The other problem is that i will have to machine a surface to seal the enclosure and mount the speakers. I was thinking of using MDF board, but if you guys know of a better material thats easier to shape and will screw down to the frame of the car better let me know. Ultimately, I will have to cut and tuck the carpeting around where i will be mounting the top of the enclosure. So if anyone has done anything simular or can just offer an suggestion as to how to fill the hole and the best way to mount these things that would be great.
BTW im also mounting the cdchanger and amplifier in the rear right compartment. Any suggestions on that would be good too. _________________ There are 10 people in the world, those who understand binary and those who dont.

Id be careful mounting the changer and amp inside the side compartments, remember if you've got a sunroof, your drains empty into that compartment and drain out the hole in the bottom. The hatch latch drains go all the way to the exterior, but your sunroof drains just dribble off into the compartment and drain on their own.
Maybe look at mounting them to the back of the seat, then you can just fold it down and change cd's while you're sitting instead of having to actually get out(raining, snowing etc). There's been some pretty nice stetups posted on here, do a search for it if you haven't already, goodluck. _________________ Mike
