Im going to work last night n decide to stop at this mobile phone place to
see about fixin the screen that was broke cause I dropped somethin on it at work..& when I was leavin I noticed a place called grand prix auto
a big showroom with sports cars for sale... Feeling good rather frisky
I go inside & ask if I can look around as my older porsche was outside
he says sure I got to sit in a 200K 2005
red ford gt 500 hp supercharged n intercooled monster it felt good to sit in
he opened the door & everything
twas cool. I get out and he shows me a ferrari a lambo a few bmws a panoz & a mercedes
n even a couple porsche 911 gt3 & a 427 cobra kit car he just kept talkin as I tried to get a word in without sounding stupid. A guy could get a good car
for 55k I found out like the kit cobra (poor gas milage though) Id like to
get a testarossa for the same price of 55k in stead some silly diesel truck
go figure. He showed me one car I cant remember what it was though the body panels were mostly plastic he pointed out it weighed only 1860 theres a few
others I cant remeber pounds. I guess they hold some porsche club meetings there as I told him Id really like
to be able to hit our local track & go the drive in my carr one of these years.

I like to go to those kind of dealers, too. I just make sure I put my hands in my pockets so I don't touch any of them. hehe

I really like the Testarossas as well, wouldn't mind having one since they cost less than a new Boxter S.

I'm with you there, Joes924Racer.

I can't understand why anyone would want to drive a truck. They don't go, they don't corner and they don't stop... pointless.

A Lexus SUV down here costs about AU$122,000. For that sort of money you're looking at a new Boxster or any number of "pre-loved" supercars...

I would rather drive a 1 ton dually 4x4 diesel truck like a Ferrari than drive a Ferrari like a 1 ton daully 4x4 truck.

I really get pissed of when some idiot in a sports car cuts me then slows down for the ramp between I15 and I95. I can take it in my truck at 55mph there is no reason for the idiot in the sports car to slow to 30mph.

They are easy to play with understeer and oversteer with, unfourtantly it doesn't do nuetral steering very well.

Besides I need a truck to tow the 924 home when it breaks.

Fair enough. And I've said it before and will say it again... I don't have a problem with trucks when they're necessary.

I've worked on mine sites and I think it's fair to say that a 924 wouldn't be too useful... I travelled to and from work in my (light) truck and I don't have a problem with that. I'm never gonna give a trade worker abuse 'cause I reckon he should be hauling his supplies in a Testarossa, y'know?

But kaffine, you know that's not the point. It's the "soccer mum's" and executives getting around the suburbs (or the City! ) in something that'd pass for a prime mover that really ticks me off

Most of the time the only thing my 1 ton hauls is my fat ass. But when I need a truck I have it and who never has a use for a truck. I really should be driving a VW diesel with the amount of driving I do.

The 924 deffinatly corners and stops better but the acceleration sucks compared to my truck.

I would rather see a truck going down the road with nothing in it than see another miata under a couch going down the road. I had to look at that twice I didn't see a car the first time just an upside down couch doing 30mph down Las Vegas blvd.

There are too many pepole driving the wrong cars. I should be driving sports cars and the guy I saw last week at the hardware store loading 2x4 into a mustang convertable should be driving a truck.

I'm just waiting for Porsche to realease a truck. That would be a good car for me if I could stop laughing at the idea of Porsche making a truck.

Well guys. If I could only have one vehicle, it would always be a truck. When you need to hall something, you need a truck. My Porsche is just my toy.

That's weird, huh? I couldn't imagine owning a truck, certainly not wanting to own one. They're crap. No fun to drive at all. Slow, awkward, poor ride and handling (in general... I mean, you're hardly gonna use your Lexus as trade truck, right?)

Then again, I'm somewhat spoiled; My work has (light) trucks available for use should I need one. And I could always hire one anyway -the excess fuel bill for one years' ownership of even a small truck (over, say, my 924 Turbo) would cover a lifetime of hire costs for when you "just gotta have a truck."

Also, down here we've got "Utes" -short for "Utility Vehicle" -that can carry up to a ton. They're basically a sedan with tray instead of rear seats and trunk:

Dunno why they never caught on up there in The 'States Much better than most trucks.

Some people take their driving more seriously than others, and some people take their image more seriously than others. We drive 924's, so it's obvious that we take our driving a lot more seriously than our image.

If you ask me, trucks are only meant for three things. Towing, hauling materials or equipment, and travelling offroad. This weekend I travelled about 1000 km or 600 miles. On the way to my destination I brought a complete rear suspension assembly with trailing arms and drums. On the way back I brought back two shortblocks, three heads, a transmission, a welder, and an assortment of small parts. The workhorse? A 1992 VW Passat wagon with a 2.0 liter engine, and it did it without protest, returning excellent fuel economy and ride, as well as luxuries such as air conditioning and heated seats.

Some might say that was truck work. Well, if you ask me, driving a few blocks to get some groceries is station wagon work. Despite all the macho image poseuring, a two liter front wheel drive station wagon is more than enough utility vehicle for most people.
