I got woken up at the ungodly hour of 4:30 this morning by my mother 'I think some guy's have had a go at your car'. That was an understatement. Went outside to check it out and see the rear window is demolished, i just about died untill she said 'they did the front as well'. I was Furious when i saw that they had a go at the windscreen with what we guess to be a baseball bat. 4 huge smash marks right where i like to see out of when i drive. (thank god for extra strong porsche windscreens, wow the germans build 'em good). and as if to add insult to injury they broke my antenna (which was stuck up anyway, so thats a bonus i guess if the insurance company fixes it).

a police report has been filed and i have to get in contact with the nice (hopefully) insurance people tomorrow morning.

I figure they might have just had penis envy...

It sucks, but that is what insurance is for i guess. i'm tempted to rip the power mirror switch out too and say 'look what they did to my switch, i need a new one'

:-/..... That sucks.... Definatly penis envy...

If your going to replace your hatch, go for the 944 hatch, it looks really nice since its bigger (my opinion) (might as well look good while you replace somthing)

Was your car locked? It could have been an amateur theft attempt. Around here a group of thugs have been breaking into cars and stealing whatever they could grab and run with. They aren't smart enough to use a slimjim to open the doors, so they break windows.

I hope Insurance down there isn't like it is up here...

A claim for a broken rear glass, combined with broken front glass makes a 924 an "Insurance Total" up here since the cost of the new glass alone (rear $3000+ and front $500-$1000) is more than the cars sell for.

If the Insurance Company insists on totaling the car, get as much as you can, then offer to buy the car back. Then, you can shop for some decent used glass to put the car back together yourself.

was it parked on your driveway or out in the street?

if it was on your driveway I can't see some random people just coming to smash it up. I would guess it must be someone that's pissed off at you. Except if you live in a ghetto or just really bad luck.

My car is insured for $7,000 (5 for the car, 1 for the warrantee and 1 for an alarm sytem) so i doubt it will be a write off.

I don't live in a ghetto, it's just not a grand area (living across from a big park is great during the day, really bad during the night)
