You need to be more descriptive about what's happening and the symptoms surrounding it. What exactly do you mean when you say, "seems to get hot when it is idle"??? Why makes you think it's getting hot? We need more data! _________________ 1981 931 (Concours)

What I mean by idle is when it sits for a period of time say 10-15 min's it will start to overheat (overboiling). _________________ 1998 Boxster

1/2 inch of deflection on the belt is the normal setting. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo |

As tiger 937 said, are the fans turning the right direction. The connector to the fan disintregrated on my 82 and I connected the wires backwards. That makes the fans spin backwards. Won't work that way. _________________ '84 944

My guess, assuming your fans are working properly, is that your radiator is clogged. You may need to get it serviced at a radiator shop (rodded out). Last time I had this done, it was under $50. _________________ Jon Furst |

Fixed it last night, thought about what Numbbers said and checked the fan belt, there was a 1/2 inch of play but when I turned it by hand it had alot of slippage. Replaced the belt and it seems to be fine. Thanks everyone for your help. This is an awsome board!!! _________________ 1998 Boxster
