I'm wondering if i should be worried about my cars cooling system. the main reason is that i can remove the coolant filler cap straight after using the car without boiling water pissing out! There's a small hiss & the water is boiling hot but it hardly raises at all, - I'v never know a car you can do this with?
also, i havn't needed to top up the coolant all summer -it just hasn't lost any?
the fan does come on a hell of a lot on this car but i'm assured thats completely normal. The temp guage has never gone over a quarter way since i got her a year ago so i can't tell anything from that.
Should i be worried??
cheers

Sounds like maybe the reservior cap isn't holding pressure. If you really want to find out if there's any pressure in there, *carefully* remove the bleed plug after driving for a while & you should definitely get a good spurt out, just watch your face! At just a few bucks, the caps are cheap enough that you can just buy one to try it out. _________________ TJ

You should be happy, someone probably already installed a lower temp thermostat and fan switch. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

I have the low temp fan switch and thermostat and mine barely gets over the 1/4 mark when the fans kick on. Doesn't lose or use coolant.
Still wouldn't hurt to replace the cap. Cheap insurance. _________________ '80 924 n/a SOLD |

Not sure about the thermostat for the 924S engine but the thermoswitch in the radiator is easily purchased from the major supply houses like Tweeks or Perf. Products. Not sure of the pricing though. _________________ '80 924 n/a SOLD |

Mines got the lower temp thermostat and fan regulator on it. Amazing, the fan runs a lot, and even when it's 50 degrees outside at night, when I come home it runs for 20 seconds or so after I turn it off. The fan kicks on right when the needle gets past the white section of the temp gauge below 1/4th. _________________ Mike
