I don't knof if this is strange but my car has not left or right fender. The left and right fender and the nose panel are all one piece.. I looked at pics of other 924s and the nose panel is a seperate piece and so are the left and right fenders.
on my mine there is no seperating points anywhere.
can anyone explain this? _________________ 78 924 sold.

It probably means that your car had an accident in the past and it has rapaired badly, filling the connections with putty. _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

well I know it has crashed and had a bad repair.
I guess that makes sense they filled the gaps with putty and painted it.
just asking because my nose panel is also a bit damaged so now it can't be replace.
I'm just hinking of fixing my headlights (getting them to fit) and then getting a cheap maaco paint job or another cheapish paintjob. some places i've seen advertise paintjobs for 600-800 bucks and they probably do a better job than maaco. This guy I know used to work in a body shop and he told me to stay away from maaco, he said they will do a horrible job.
I know maaco sucks but my car isn't in nice dondition and I just want to it to look nice for just a few years. My roof right now is spray painted black and the body is purple with tons of chiping everywhere so it looks like crap. _________________ 78 924 sold.

If someone who should know told you to stay away from maecco, and you think their work sucks, why are you even considering spending several hundred dollars there..? _________________ '82 924 NA Euro (hers)

Tim, I had already explained this very thing too you, I told you that your car had been in a front end collision and that they just used BONDO to fill the header panel and then paint it,
you can get a maaco paint job, but you will see peeling within 1 year,
UNLESS you do ALL the prep work yourself, and supply them with the paint and then you may actually see decent work. _________________ 3 928s, |

I just want it too look decent but I don't want it to chip badly or look like crap in a year that would be a waste of money.
I wouldn't want to pay more than 800-1000 for a paint job. Like I said there are lots of body shops advertising paint starting from 600 or 800 and its probably better quality than maaco.
i want the paint to look good for a few years
also what color would look best for a cheapish paint job?
I like black but a 800-1000 dollar black piant job probably won't look nice and you'll see all the small dents/ scratches.
I'm thinking probably silver not sure how good that would work over the purple paint. _________________ 78 924 sold.

I remember you told me the car had been in a crash but I don't remember you telling me it was filled with bondo....
would it be worth it (and not too expensive) to remvoe the bondo and fix it properly before getting it painted?
I'm going to try and find an entire headlight assembly from the junkyard and instlall it and then get a body shop to get the headlights to fit into the body properly (when they go down.) _________________ 78 924 sold.

Listen guys...if everyone stopped answering Timstar's daily run of stupid questions he might stop. It is obvious he doesn't listen to a SINGLE word and only wants to hear the right answer....that is, his every idea is a GREAT one.
He drives me nuts too
BTW..don't worry that I hurt his feelings....it won't even sink in....never does _________________ 1976 924

Tim, I had explained that too you as well, I explained that you would have to replace the header panel, and BOTH fenders as it has probably damaged this inside, and I was unable to see if there was a bolt holding the two pieces together, which indicated that there might have been but was either filled with bondo or crushed.
last time I checked MCL wanted $650 per fender and $150 for the header panel, however that was a few years ago, in other words it is NOT worth it, just drive it as is, and as per the colour, if you have it resprayed, stay with the same colour, it really suites you _________________ 3 928s, |
