Should I go for it or leave it for a muffler guy? I'm on vacation this week. _________________ 1978 924 95 mile daily driver.

depends on how much money you have.
Those nuts can be a real pain to get off and most guys will just lean on them until the stud snaps then the bill just went up by a couple of hundred.
If you take your time and use plenty of penetrating oil it's not that hard. _________________ 1979 924 (Gone to a better place)

Patience is the key here, that and a couple cans of liquid wrench. Be sure to give the nuts a good brushing with a wire brush before soaking, and between soaks. _________________ '81 931 in various states of assembly |

I would say go for it, just make sure that you buy all new replacement nuts (the copper locking style) and all new exhaust studs, as well as having a M8x1.25 tap to clean the holes out, and possibly a helicoil handy, as well as remembering to use neversieze/antisieze on the part of the exhaust stud which is not covered, and possibly on the part that goes into the head (however I found mine tended to back out if I used it here) _________________ 3 928s, |

I'm going to Napa tomorrow for the bolts and manifold gasket.
I've read I can just ask for the VW replacement manifold bolts .
Is there a year that will work in-case this guy panics? _________________ 1978 924 95 mile daily driver.

just say 1.8L 1983 VW rabbit, the studs and nuts are exactly the same, and as I said replace them all, or at least I would _________________ 3 928s, |
