|
|
First off, the "E-Mail to Friend" is functional (have fun playing with that one!
Now, the "Print Preview" is functional as well. I am currently chosing to use Flash Paper as the print media - please answer the poll so that I can guage whether people would prefer the printer friendly pages to be generated as flash paper or as a pdf.
Thanks in advance.

you're right about how cool Flash Paper looks. Are the results good as pdf when you actually put it onto paper? _________________ 1979 924 (Gone to a better place)

Flash. Two reasons:
First, a flash applet opens in a snap, whereas a PDF, for me atleast, takes about 5-10 seconds to open up the PDF viewer if I haven't recently used it.
Second, the flash is real slick, I like it a lot, it's not cluttered like Acrobat and it functions well. Form and function. _________________ Mike

I prefer the flash paper myself - and yeah, it prints to paper very well.
I can easily make it an option (pdf or flash) for the user. I can program it so the first time you print something from the site I look for a cookie and use what it is set too. If it doesn't exist, then a simple form would give the user the option to select. That just seems a little over the top, so I figured I ask.
Since I am developing the site on a Cold Fusion server, I can use the latest technologies - mainly flash paper and flash forms. Flash paper is nice for reasons already stated - very fast, and no worries of plugin download requirements with 98% of browsers with flash preinstalled. The only draw back is the limited formatting control.
Flash forms, on the other hand, are also very slick - have you seen the "E-Mail to Friend" feature on the development site? It uses flash forms, and I really like them cuz they look sweet but most of all because they are very very very hard to hack. No more "Right Click, View Source, Hack Form" routine. _________________ 924.org (no time to complete)
