hi i have a little problem. i was driving to the gym and my car just died on. it didn't shake or nothing but just turned off. after that i couldn't get the car started. the car doesn't turn on any more it just makes the click sound. there is no problem with the battery or alternator. i went to the machenic and he manually tried to crank it and it wouldn't crank like the engine is stuck. there is oil in the car and it is has been changed not to long ago. i'm really not sure what to do so any help would really be appreciated. can any1 help me with any suggestions to bring my car back to life i really mis it. thanks in advance guys

did you check to see if the timing belt hasn't broken off or come loose?

hopefully it didn't... as it would cause engine damage.

if it just clicks sounds like your starter is bad mine won't crank sometimes it just goes "click" my mechanic said the starter was bad..

If it cranks with a different sound than usual... it is the timing belt. That would be my first guess with out even looking at it.

When you say your mechanic manually cranked the motor and couldn't, what exactly did he do?

When it died, was the engine still turning over while in gear?

Basically trying to get a handle on whether we're talking a siezed engine or electrical/ignition/valve timing.

Total failure like that is more likely to be in the electrical/ignition category like a wire just gave up.

Common fault with these cars. I think it is the speed sensor? It is the piece that has a pickup on the crank. If it is faulty the car will not start.
Almost against the firewall there are four wires meeting above the motor.
Jiggle it and it may start. I had this problem with my 88 924

the mechanic put a wrench or something that fits on the motor pully and tried to turn it. i went to another mechanic and he said it might be the something damaged under the oil pan becouse i have a crack in the oil pan that leaks out oil slowly. i refill it every 2 days. and he said it he might find something if he removes the oil pan. also vince where exactly do i find those wires beocuse i'm not even sure what a fire wall is. thanks for all your help guys. and yes the battery is also completely charged.

firewall I'm pretty sure means the metal area behind your dash and at the back of the engine... the whole metal area between the interior of the car and back of engine.

electrical wires come out of here that go to the engine bay.
