Hey guys, I know I haven't posted or been on long. Hell, most of you prolly dont' remember me... But anywho, You guys were the ones who schooled me about the 924. Because of that, I've become confident in my knowledge about the 924, what I can do to upgrade it accordingly, etc. I mean, this forum has literally helped me find the car that I will (hopefully) keep until the day either I or the car dies.... I'm about to purchase a 1986 Porsche 944 and hope to convert the exterior so that it resembles the 1986 Porsche 924 GTR. As for the engine bay, here's a quick look at what's going to happen:
Swap out the stock I-4 for a v8 5.7L LS1. Deciding on if I should swap out the N/A tranny for the 944T Tranny or just swap it for the LS1 6 spd.
382 cubic inches - Forged stroker crankshaft - Ultra-light billet stroker rods - Lightweight forged pistons - Plasma-moly file fit rings - Performance engine bearings - Cylinders torque plate honed - Line honed main bores - Balanced rotating assembly - CNC Ported cylinder heads - Larger high flow stainless valves - Performance valve springs - Titanium spring retainers - Chrome Moly pushrods - DRM hydraulic roller camshaft - Donaldson Blackwing Air Filter - B&B Route 66 Exhaust System - Ceramic Coated Longtube Headers - Custom computer calibration.
I thought about a turbo system, but am not sure. With just those engine mods, I'm hoping to have a 485hp+ Porsche. With all the carbon fiber mods and weight reduction kits/parts from GT Racing, I hope to have it around 2,700 lbs with a near 55-45 wieght ratio (about 2,900lbs stock with a 51-49 ratio). I've got a long list of suspension, brakes, audio, etc. mods I'll be doing to this car, but too long to list! lol.. plus you never know when something "better" might come out...
Trying to make this one helluva sleeper with a rare 924 Carrera GTR look... Hope to meet some of you guys in the future at PCA meets and such ^_^ Hope to have it finished in about 6 years (estimation of project completion). I'll continue to read up on the board, just in case
-Thank you all for everything
