The car was running well. Tried to restart the car - and would not start. I placed a timing light on #1 and no spark.

I pulled the spark plugs and they did not seem wet with fuel.

The car has 96K on it.

Any suggestions on what to try?

Based on some of the messages, no start / no spark is very common.

Help please? Please.

Rick

If any of these items are not working, will the engine still get fuel?

If it is getting fuel then I would concentrate on the ignition part. First the very easiest check and very important... check the dist cap and rotor. I had my car shut down at 5500 rpms and fail to restart due to a rotor gone bad. Too bad at that time I was not real into doing the work myself. $250 tow charge later and my mechanic tells me $15 and the car will be on its way... UG.

Anyway check that first. Then the points, then the coil and so on from there. Could also be your silver engine control unit.... but run the other checks and inspections first.

Make sure you inspect all the wires and connectors to and from the coil and distributor, you do not want to see frayed wires or loose connections. These will disable the ignition.
